Pontoons - Growth from being slipped...what is it?

I had/have a similar build up on my toons. the previous owner kept it in a slip every year like yours. It wasn't an issue until I bought a bunk trailer with carpeted bunks. It was really hard to get the boat on and off. I tried some acid cleaner, didn't do much besides lighten my wallet. I...

    Pontoon vs tritoon ride height?

I added an 18' center tube, 23"diam which matched my existing 24' tubes. at rest, the front sits 3-4 inches higher, the rear sits the same as before. I've been pleased with the results.

Water in 280 dp lower unit but pressure test is good?

orings are typically single use items. using a common lower unit fill pump is the way to fill the outdrive with lube.

1986 SunRunner “The Big shark” My first boat

this is incorrect unless it has a dp lower unit. the single prop 280 outdrive takes motor oil, not gear lube.

    Winter Storage/Cover with Radar Arch . . .

you could put a cheap blue tarp over the canvas to help shed the snow load. I've done that in the past.

hate to throw parts at the problem, but why not try a different bulb?

    Windows 11 yes/no?

this was why I asked the question. an icon has appeared on the bottom of my screen offering the upgrade. I imagine Microsoft is looking for people to start using it and finding the flaws. I, like most, will put it off as long as possible. sad really...

Volvo Penta AQ140 water coming out of carbs.

I didn't realize the aq 140 could be swapped for the 130, being different generations of motors. both have 2 carbs... thanks for sharing your project, keep.us updated!

Are my toons to small? I need a game plan.

I've never seen a pontoon sit level in the water, always bow up because of extra weight in the rear. just to compare, my 24 footer with 23" tubes, before adding a third tube, would sit about halfway under water at the rear and about 3 inches under at the front. I added a third 18 foot tube. now...

Are my toons to small? I need a game plan.

if the boat is sitting at that level lightly loaded, I would consider that too low. fully loaded, that may be ok, however I would not want to be in rough water at that level.

    Second Happiest Day . . .

couple of thoughts, as a ford f250 owner and product follower. the Ford diesel engines from 2003 thru 2010, 6.0 and 6.4 have terrible reviews, a major repair could cost close to your buying budget. I can't speak to Chevy or dodge... Imo, I would have your boat and trailer delivered if possible...

1986 Bayliner Capri won't start after running great all weekend

I agree, just remember that belt could be 35 years old. if you plan to keep the boat, I'd consider changing it. Kenny knows his stuff, follow his lead. the backfiring you're getting could be lean miss, which says fuel issue, but could also be a timing issue. if it were me, I'd be going...

1986 Bayliner Capri won't start after running great all weekend

those motors have a timing belt that may be old and finally lost a few teeth...shouldn't be hard to look at that.

Volvo Penta 290SP (single prop) outdrive - prop cone nut hole size?

I'd stay with a screwdriver, no need to over tighten. the bolt at the end, screwed into the prop shaft is the "lock".

    Vp aq270

sounds like the tilt mechanism is working properly, it is not meant to be power trim, just tilt for putting it on a trailer. you can run it tilted up at idle speed but only halfway up if needed in shallow water. I would not expect it to stay up when trailering either, put a strap on it to keep...

    Replace plywood decking on pontoon

when I replaced my deck, I sourced some plywood from a local boat dealer that was treated with the old chemicals that do not react with the other metal on the boat. it was also kiln dried following the treatment. very nice stuff. if you go with marine grade, I wouldn't try to seal it. you're...

    Please help ....

I don't think you'll be able to put on a new bellows without pulling the upper gear box. if it all works as it should, you could get some use out of it, but if you don't want to spend money or time on this boat, cut your losses and buy an aluminum boat with an outboard
