    i believe you can use the LU from a gen 1 on a gen 2. i was advised i could ,as i had a spare gen 1 LU and was not sure whether the one that come with the boat ( gen 2 outdrive) was in usable condition.as it was my gen 2 LU was Ok condition so i never got to prove compatibility.

    there is a count of turns you have to set the shift rod that comes out of the gearbox , from memory there is also a measurement as well. once this is all set up you should get smooth shifting FNR. i don't have the manual with me ATm to give you the setting.
