the O ring can be seen in the lower part of the pic i posted , it needs to be glued in place before you put the drive on or it falls off , even with glue it can still dislodge . i found the use of contact adhesive to do the trick. when you locate the cable in the holder it should be pulled...

    Intake Manifold Gaskets

need a better pic and the felpro gasket set part # you bought would also help. personally i would use OEM as i have had to many bad experiences with felpro and marine applications. if your heads have exhaust cross over holes and the intake does not then you need to use the blanking plates to...

What percentage of value of motor do you replace? How much to spend on parts motor?

i like to buy old broken outboards just to fix them up. some are beyond viable repair so i just strip them down and diagnose the cause /causes of the failure and then scrap the remands that are no longer useful . i have a shed with lots of parts and running motors , the parts get sold or given...

    1994 Johnson 115hp, V4…Tilt Trim question?

its not advisable to leave the manual release open , although a lot of us seasoned boaters have at some time and operated the trim . in theory and from practice ( :) the odd time or 2 i have left the screw open and ran the trim) , air should not get into the system from there , so i doubt that...

    Starting issue

+ 1 disconnect the linkage , this will determine if it is carb (or TB related) or a sticking / broken cable , a broken cable can double up in the sheathing and cause the throttle to stick WOT . whatever you do get to the bottom of why its stuck WOT before trying the motor again.

RE: Issues with Mercruiser 5.0 LX 4 Barrel Carb

i am assuming you did do a valve leak down test whilst the heads were off ?. how did the cylinders look ? glazed or lost x scratching . over heat can cause glazing and lower compression ."however' to drop compression that low and after a gasket change still having low comp would indicate...

    Pertronix question.

i did see that post , yes i agree it is "showing as" running slightly lean, retarded timing can appear to show lean or rich symptoms on plugs and valve heads. OP posted that after running for a bit it picks up , this is because the cylinder temp are probably getting to a point of being...
