    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

Looking forward to your build BWR! I admit having a slightly longer/wider boat would be nice. Will keep an eye out for one of those hulls as a possible future project. The aluminum floor sounds really nice too!

    '67 Holiday 18' - Make it Usable

I was in the same dilemma when I was putting new tires on my boat trailer. I ended up cutting off the old metal fender wells and leaving the suspension alone. New metal fenders were not that expensive and I can fully box the tire in now so it doesnt get dirt/debris on my boat as I drive...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

Sorry to hear that news but its the right choice. Enjoy life on the water while you can! Sell the Chieftain and motors together first, but leave it up to the buyer if he wants the motors too. Those will sell separate easier if someone just wants the hull.

Supersport dash and interior side panel ideas?

Besides the old switch panel that came withe boat, I kept the classic trim and bought mahogany wood to match the original front bow support. Looks beautiful but wish I just went with straight oil to bring out the grains better. The other console just has a stereo, and was the better looking...

Floatation Foam - 67 StarCraft Holiday

@Berdink You're lucky you have enough foam left to still float your boat if it sinks. Mine barely had enough under the floors to float me! If your floors aren't out already then yea, leave it for now. Thats good your boat doesn't leak any water or that foam would definitely soak it up because...

    68 Offshore restoration

Yup closed cell eva foam. I got the teak color, its kinda golden with black stripes. Should cost you around $120 to do it is my guess. If guys can use it in duck boats, its gotta be durable. Love walking on it, super comfortable. Does not get hot.

    68 Offshore restoration

May I suggest looking into hydroturf? It could be held down nicely under the trim pieces, and its glued down to the gunnel top as well. Very durable, sharp looking, not overly expensive. Would cover up any holes too. I used it for the flooring of my boat instead of a vinyl or carpet. Was...

    Marine Insurance

Nope, progressive is the #1 insurer for boats and other toys. It's who I use as well for the boat and motorcycle, same with all my friends.

    Re-powering a 1978 21' Starcraft Mariner - Engine Help!

Hey Reno, Im not far from where you're at, fairly close to tahoe. They are definitely strict with boats on the lake, especially when you have to pay them to inspect it! I have a 16' starcraft that I restored. The new motor is a 75hp mercury and it weighs 357lbs. The original motor was a...

    1982 starcraft v220 mariner v5 potential rebuild

Welcome @Crabeye !! Im just east of you in the sierras and Im familiar with the waters out on our coast. Havent taken my boat out there yet as its a bit smaller than yours, but Ive surfed all over and kayak fish for rockfish and lingcod. Similar to your issues, I had rivets just losing...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Just a random thought @SHSU about grease and wd40. Ive been putting synthetic gun oil on everything possible lately, so if wd40 works, Id bet the syn gun oil would be even better. Clean it out with wd40 still, but worth a shot. Doesnt gunk up from gun powder, works in all weather conditions...

    68 Offshore restoration

Thats a pretty cool use for that material. Will be interested to see how it works out. My kayak is made with hdpe, and the newer formulas can pretty much be reused indefinitely. I fixed a hole in my kayak by "welding" it with melted hdpe plastic, sanded smooth, and shined it back up with...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

From my experience, citrus stripped worked better than the other stuff I used. Still, yes, cover and wait. If you have gluvit or coat-it to remove, I found that no paint stripper will work. It has to be sanded to remove. Plastic would protect the trailer from the "paint removers" since they...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Definitely getting 2-foot-itis seeing that MC! My only complaint with my 160ss is exactly that haha. The width especially. A 150 on the MC will be a blast. Cant wait to see what you have in store for it.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The width on the MC is amazing!! I would not mind having a boat that big haha. Too bad you will part with the king fisher, its really well done, but I understand. Congrats on the new boat!

Boating with small children ( Toddlers ) Best Life Vest.

https://a.co/d/g0EEBUY This is the one we use for my youngest who is now almost 2yo. Easy to get into, and comfortable. Does well keeping her on her back. She was just under a year old when we first took her out. Edit: Bring lots of snacks and a good blanket for mom/baby. Just cruising...

    Smoker Craft restoration

Nice boat! I mainly hangout in the starcraft area with other tin-heads. Lots of good transferable builds over there to look at. Im not a fan of marine carpet, thats for sure. A popular vinyl flooring is nautolex. I chose to do zero vinyl/carpet as well, and used hydroturf (or the online...

    leaking riveted starcraft ('82 MR180)

Sounds right. The strakes aren't watertight like the hull. They have weep holes to drain so water doesnt freeze and expand inside them.
