Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

It does seem that most boat makers are dropping the smaller sizes, probably not enough profit in them per unit to make it worth it. I have considered going up to a 21ft but thinking of where I go my 18.5ft was already a bit tight on a certain turn getting from launch to lake. For the Sea Ray did...

Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

Sorry thought I mentioned it, I am looking for similar boats but that ride better. Out of the ones you mentioned I have been looking at a Sea Ray SLX 190 and thinking they seem to ride a bit better though less speed for same HP which is good by me - small lakes

Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

I have been boating since I was 12 and back in 2019 bought a 2018 Glastron GT185 which was an amazing boat. I sold it in the fall thinking I was going to buy a house but for a few reasons that is not happening anymore. I am now wondering what to do about a boat for the summer. I am thinking I...

    How is Texas for boating?

I was looking at mainly just plain old boating to go cruise around with some friends but would probably have a second boat to fish with. Something in the 14-16ft range.

    How is Texas for boating?

Is there a certain area of Texas that is better? I am spoiled here in Canada with so many lakes around that they are rarely busy so would really like to have the same thing while the lake being 3-5km long/wide at least

    How is Texas for boating?

I'm from Canada and am looking at moving to Texas in the next 3-5 years and am wondering how the boating is down there? Are there any good non-busy lakes or should I be going on the coast? I would like to avoid the coast because of the storms if possible. I don't mind a 1-1.5 hour drive to the...

    Trim non functioning

Went and talked to the dealer about what I can do and the service guy told me it is probably electrical not an actual issue. He said to tighten the nuts on the battery and check fuses and if not then call them and he would walk me through taking the trim apart to lift it as GA said. I tightened...

    Trim non functioning

Huh okay, didn't really realize how it worked :p I just looked up a picture and seems like out is how it should be. I will follow your suggestion tomorrow morning and see how it goes.

    Trim non functioning

Ah okay those, I think they are pulled in all the way already so maybe I am wrong and the trim is not the issue? I don't have a picture but it looks like my rods match that photo.

    Trim non functioning

Thanks will give this a shot and see how it goes. Happen to know what tools I should bring with me? The boat is about an hour or a bit more away so need to bring everything I need in one go if I can.

    Trim non functioning

I have a 2018 Glastron GT 185 with less than 50 hours on it, today I was out tubing with family and the trim crapped out on it. Currently, the trim is fairly down - needed it that way to run in the waves and tube - so I didn't notice it till we went to do a few higher speed laps at the end. I...

How to install these seat posts?

Thanks and for water getting in the hole, these seats won't be in place 90% of the time which leaves a 3/4 inch hole into the foam. I thought maybe a plug but it would have to somehow be 1/4 inch below the bottom of the base plate which would mean building a box below it.

How to install these seat posts?

I bought the 7x7 seat bases that are used for the pin post seats. They are exactly what I want however the boat I am installing them into is an older one with a fibreglass deck and I assume foam below deck. These post bases go down about an inch or so but that is fine if I seal the top lip...

    Sea Ray tow

If the numbers scott is saying are correct - which I assume so - then you are in for a hell of a ride if you try and tow that. I would look at getting rid of the ford and replacing it with a half ton if you plan to tow often. If it is a single trip and never again then I would pay someone to do...

Adding a GPS unit to a bowrider

Interesting option of using a tablet, I think I would rather avoid them mainly because I can see the same issues as my phone happening, ie chance of it going overboard. For me I don't care about the fish finder part of things since this boat is the sport/fun boat and the other is fishing. Not...

Adding a GPS unit to a bowrider

I have no pictures of my dash and can't get them as it's still shrink-wrapped until May. I'm looking for more general and how others have done yeah. Fully aware specific advice is out of the question but general should give me an idea of how I can do it to look into parts and other options...

Adding a GPS unit to a bowrider

With my bowrider I don't have much space next to the steering wheel on the dash that I could drill into. As for having someone install it for me, I was just talking to him about what options I have since he does work on my boat for me and he brought up the fiberglass option to make it look...

Adding a GPS unit to a bowrider

I am considering adding a GPS unit to my 2018 Glastron GT 185. Currently, I use my phone with the Navionics app however it's in a phone mount on the side window and I have had the phone fall a few times from different mounts I have tried. I am worried about my phone going overboard. Would also...
