Are Chrysler motors junk and to be avoided?

I’ll have to check again, the last time I checked was five or so years ago.

Are Chrysler motors junk and to be avoided?

It’s in the storage shed about 10 miles away. I’d have to get out there and check. I think it’s from the 80’s. It’s served me well but things wear out. Had to special order the throttle gears from a old school dealer, he got them from Austria. Broke 2 rewind springs, I got lucky and found them...

Are Chrysler motors junk and to be avoided?

My old 8 horse Chrysler, you can't even get a new prop for it. I've looked everywhere.

    Marinco solar vents-Junk?

Quality is not what it used to be. I've taken other fans apart, oiled the bushings with gun oil or sewing machine oil, it does not varnish up over time. 3-1 oil will. Sometimes you have to drill a small hole in the back bushing housing to get the oil in, seal the hole with a dab of silicone...

What is this on my 6cyl in line 165HP?

Mine was like that when I got it. I wire wheeled the area, wiped down with acetone and jb welded it. Before the jb dried I dabbed it with a rag so it looked like cast iron, let dry and painted the area. Can’t tell it was cracked. 7 years and it’s still holding. If there are internal cracks you...

Best way to connect 6 awg to 14 awg stranded wire

I just googled sealed busbar box, but I couldn’t copy and paste for some reason. Try google. And trimming strands isn’t recommended.

    Mercruiser Gear reduction and prop

Where you at? If freeing temps you will need to winterize so the block doesn't get destroyed over winter.

Alpha one gen II leaking water near hydraulic hoses

Oh boy. Yeah you have a rotten transom. On mine it was rotted but still felt fairly firm. I did replace the rotted transom and that led to the stringers and entire floor, carpet And foam flotation. It’s a fairly big job but I know it’ll last me for years.

Gimbal bearing lubrication without zirc fitting

yeah, the new bearings are sealed, that is why they have a plug in the housing as you don't need to grease them. personally, I prefer the greaseable type, but it's gone nowadays.

    Unable to pull stater rope

You can remove the lower unit and see if it frees up the motor. You also have to remove the flywheel to see if the magnets are broken. I’d be looking for a factory manual before proceeding any further as you said you don’t know alot about outboards. Possibly check out some u-tube videos about...

    Unable to pull stater rope

Pull plugs and turn the flywheel by hand. Feel for the binding. It's entirely possible that a magnet came loose under the flywheel, causing the resistance. Or the motor gave up the ghost from the water getting in there. I think you have to figure out how the water got in there also.

How/where to put in a stereo in my (new to me) Triton 175 fishing boat?

My stereo quit working 5 years ago. I never used it as I like to listen to nature. A pontoon went by the cabin with a stereo blasting, several people onboard. Nobody could even talk to each other! Big nope from me.

    Frozen Block?

My 3.0 had every core plug blown out when I got it. I replaced all of them, ran it hard all summer and it was fine. I figured it did freeze, then thawed out soon after before it got cold again. Weird I know but it's still a runner. That was 10 years ago, it's fine yet!

What's the best wood to use for stringers replacement.

I used marine grade plywood. Could have used construction grade but I didn't want any hidden voids.

    Car Hood Boats

The neighbors years ago used a hood of some sort, welded a plate to the back and stuffed a motor on there. It worked for fishing! On another note, we would take the flying saucer and tie it to the snowmobile and race around the field, if you fell off and the saucer flipped it would dig into the...

    Charging/maintaning battery over winter

I charge overnight in the fall after winterizing, unhook batts, then cover the boat for the winter. Batteries last me close to 8 years. In spring hook up and go after checking water levels. I leave them in the boat with temps at times down to -40.

    Bottom paint around transom assembly

Yikes! That whole assembly looks like it needs attention. You can tape off the 1” area and sand lightly to remove the old paint, just be careful. When you get down to the original gel, stop and buff off the remaining paint.
