Here is an update of the thought process so far, in terms of planning out a conversion to twin outboards. . .
My plan is to have the outboard engines beyond the existing swim deck to the point of allowing full-tilt of the outboards and not having to change the swim deck area.

My family used to have a place on Captiva Island, and for years it seemed that Gulf storms were a rarity; the west coast of FL being the 'safer' side. That does not seem to be the case recently.
Same here with the several B3's that I have owned. Big bearings, big gears. It won't spin freely, and as you turn the props (in neutral) you will hear/feel the gears meshing.

It sounds like the navigation lights are wired in series when they should be wired in parallel. (I believe this was touched upon)
Each light should be getting 12volts from the switch.
Perhaps the wiring was changed by a previous owner of the boat...
