    Fogging for 45 seconds is fine. Often the engine does not die. Taking AF in trough the muffs can be a bit questionable, if you did not drain the existing water from the block and manifolds.

    My oldest outboard is 54 years old . . . it refuses to die. The newest one is 33 years old. I know your OB is bigger and probably will be used a lot more than my engines, but . . . Outboards tend to last quite a while 1,500 hours and 25+ years would not be unusual.

    IDK - One surprise to me as I looked into the issues on my car was that in order to save a nickel, the automakers have 'LIN BUS' (single wire) in addition to 'CAN BUS' (two wires) to operate and manage a lot of the gadgetry. LIN BUS is less reliable and probably leads to all of this quirkiness.
