Mercruiser 5.7mpi horizon single cylinder burning lean

Your motor should have a MEFI-3 ECM (SN needed to verify) and it uses batch firing of the injectors. Batch firing means 4 injectors are fired at one time and normally fire at least twice for each revolution. Injector 2 and 4 are fired at the same time by the ECM. Swap 2 and 4 connectors to see...

Mercruiser 3.0 wants to die only at 1800 RPM

Sounds like the power valve. The power valve transitions the idle circuit to the main. Only way to fix it is get into the carb. Could replace the TKS with a standard carb

No fuel in carb despite several attempts to crank

After sitting that long it's not a tank vacuum Use a gas can and length of fuel line. If it fires up and keeps running then it's the antisiphone valve or the tank pickup If that doesn't work then it's the pump

    Starter not engaging flywheel

Either the ring on the flywheel has moved, or the starter isn't moving the gear all the way out. Look closely at the ring and see if it's close to the starter or further away. Need to also rotate the flywheel and little at a time to see if there is missing teeth somewhere

Adding an axillary fuel tank information resources?
