Mystery hole in Bravo 1 gimbal

Looks like it was the early style location for the mercruiser water pitot tube fitting (speedometer) before they moved it up in the top right side if you're looking at it from the inside of the boat looking back. Here's an illustration of the fitting from 1990...

Yes thanks, that number 0D419977 is coming up as an 1990 MERCRUISER BRAVO TRANSOM BRAVO TRANSOM model number 6020000CR. I'll look around to see if I recall what the hole was used for if it was stock....That mentioned it may have been added by someone for something...You may have to size it up...

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI 2013. Crank but no start.

This happens somewhat often on these designed HVS, flat distributor cap, rotor assemblies keeping the engine from starting or running correctly. Check the rotor to ensure it seated properly too...(Not sitting cockeyed) Most likely the issue, good luck.

Unfortunately it seems maybe your fuel gauge doesn't seem very accurate because it starts off at 10 or 11 psi then jumps to only 40psi then settles at 32 psi which may or may not indicate you are missing out on a 10ish psi reading. :( Does/did the gauge start off at 0 psi for any of the...

The trim shouldn't with what I believe your ECM to be...That mentioned there are some that have claimed a failed trim system in the up position did keep engines from starting on newer engine models of your serial ranges. Does any of your normal trim gauges still work up at the helm? Whether it...

Have you tried opening up the throttle say 1/4 to 100% while cranking to see if it's a lack of air.

    ECM question

Since it's been often mentioned Mercruiser generally tends to set up the ECM factory calibrations a bit to the richer side of the fuel mapping curves, it's possible your engine may work with the original set ECM but without having someone that's either an professional ecm engine tuner or...

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI 2013. Crank but no start.

Bear in mind a low engine compression situation could cause an almost no start condition with backfire type effects. Maybe the spark plugs are wet and/or there is water in the fuel system after the rain. Distributor assembly is/was dry inside? Any signs of water on the ignition coil?/General...

Maybe a video of the engine trying to start may help some too. Maybe try using a timing light at each spark plug wire and coil wire to see if you have continuous in sequence spark.

To try and get a better idea here, 'The engine tries to start with maybe some sort of backfire sound involved as well too Maybe? It might be time to check the internal engine components with a compression test and cylinder leak-down test. EDIT: Did you replace the fuel regulator on top of the...

5.7Gi-F Updates with some lessons learned.

Yes it's important to have the blue cap on tight and not damaged in anyway or it will suck air and burn up the impeller. This should be a habit every boater should do in my opinion every time out....It helps let you get to know the whole operating system. (y)
