    Picked up a 1990 Force 50HP yesterday.

My favorite, and it applies to anything with a motor....."Ran strong when parked ___ years ago". (fill in the blank)

    Picked up a 1990 Force 50HP yesterday.

I think the dumps around here will take a hull, not sure how much that would cost.......then there is the old trailer you would have to deal with, too, if it had one.

    Picked up a 1990 Force 50HP yesterday.

I was referring to the boat he took the motor off of......a project the previous owner never finished. I see that he has an aluminum boat he will be restoring to put the Force on. He won't have to worry about endless hours of grinding rotten wood, old fiberglass, etc. Should be a lot easier...

    Picked up a 1990 Force 50HP yesterday.

You are right, especially if it was an old fiberglass boat. At least you won't have a worthless hull to get rid of. Not sure what the completion rate is for project boats, but from what I have heard it is not very high. They start out with great intentions, but soon realize it was a lot more...

Don't they all say that? Sounds like you got the basics covered (comp-spark-carb-impeller). Wouldn't hurt to take the carb off and clean it real good, check the float level, etc, since it's been setting up for a few years. Good luck.

    Solar charging batteries

This is false......my boat came from the factory with one meter with a selector switch for 2 banks. Works just fine.

    Anybody know what this is?

Google Translate......... The photo your friend took looks like a mooring bollard, used for tying ropes. However, the design is quite unique. The star-shaped holes appear to be designed to reduce weight or allow for attaching specialized accessories. I suggest taking more photos; you might find...

Check out the top of this forum in the stickies.....in the FAQ there is a good post about trouble shooting the T&T system......

Anyone know how to open/repair this gauge?

It sounded like you were wanting to keep it original (look, function, size, etc) so getting the old one repaired would make sense. If not, get a new one. Faria recently purchased Beede Instruments, so they only repair original Faria products, which is what you have if it says Faria on it.

Anyone know how to open/repair this gauge?

Faria has an online gauge repair program. Might be worth checking out. https://fariabeede.com/forms/?form=new#rep_new

That's what I did......Not much difference in sound.

    Force 120hp Major Overheat

If that's the original powerhead, then you got a 1990 model motor. Parts diagram for 1990 model shows a rubber grommet AND a rubber seal at the top of the copper water line. I don't believe they can be replaced without removing the PH.....but if there is blockage in the bottom of the block...

Looking for a manual and any general information on this motor i recently aquired from a friend .

Ebay usually has manuals for some of the older motors......if looking for a SERVICE manual just make sure it clearly states that it is, and not a PARTS manual, although the parts manuals can come in handy with their diagrams and part numbers.

    1990 Force rub rail question

You might try posting this in the Restoration forum......probably get more responses over there......rub rails and such are pretty generic.
