    Force 125 88’ won’t run

If you're going to replace the port cover gaskets best to do all of them. Then do the fuel pump. If your prop is SS it can be repaired but can be expensive. You could probably buy a new aluminum prop for a few more dollars compared to repairing a SS prop. I switched to aluminum mainly because...

    Force 125 88’ won’t run

You did a comp test and spark test.....jerry suggested replacing fuel pump diaphragm, transfer port gaskets, clean the carbs.....have you done all that yet? The prop.....is it bent or damaged? Aluminum or stainless steel? Running a bent prop can damage the gearbox over time. Guess you saw the...

    Force 125 88’ won’t run

If the LU has been sitting for a while any water in the gearbox will settle to the bottom....when you remove the plug water may come out first. If the LU has been used recently, any water will be mixed in with the lube, and will look creamy or milky.....see what comes out when you drain it...

https://forums.iboats.com/threads/step-by-step-impeller-change.229221/ This thread by the late Frank Acampora is about replacing the impeller and gives detailed instructions for removing the LU......it's in the stickies at the top of this forum....lots of good info in those threads.

    Force 125 88’ won’t run

If you plan on keeping and using this motor it would be a good idea to get a factory service manual.....several listed on ebay......worth the money and will answer most of the questions you are asking. This site also has a search function.....use it to search for info you are looking...

    Force 125 88’ won’t run

Good compression.....do the spark test next like jerry said. The water in your bucket in that first pic was extra oily because the engine would not start, and the unburned fuel and oil had to go somewhere....if it was running a lot of it would have burned off and become smoke....

    Force 125 88’ won’t run

Good.....so don't worry about changing the oil. Lol Btw....that first pic of the oily water.....kinda normal for an old 2-stroke.

    Force 125 88’ won’t run

A 2-stroke doesn't have engine oil like a 4-stroke. The lubricating oil is mixed in the gas at 50:1 ratio. So there is no engine oil drain or filter on a 2-stroke. Have you run it without adding oil to the gas?

Mechanic for ‘70 merc 115 near twin cities, MN???

Around here, a lot of the old school guys are set up near a lake....usually in an old run down shop with parts stacked up to the ceiling with greasy floors......and a cig hanging on the lip...and no website.

Mechanic for ‘70 merc 115 near twin cities, MN???

For a 53 year old motor, need to find an old school mechanic......only other option is to get a manual and do it yourself, and use a forum like this to help you. These new "techs"...if they can't plug a laptop in to give them a solution, they won't mess with it......

    Thermostat and pissing issue

Iboats has them on this site....Sierra #18-3556.....in stock. Buying from them helps support this forum. They don't carry a lot of parts for these old motors, but if they have what I need I try to buy from them. (y)
