    Why do you suspect the CDI box as being part of the problem? What is the LIT number of your Yamaha manual? Is it LIT-18616-00-45?

    Some Yams having a tiller handle have a warning buzzer in the tiller handle itself. I do not see a buzzer in your tiller handle. Seems that you get a warning light only. Plus RPM reduction mode which should give you an indication of the motor having a problem.
