    Change the sparkplugs first. They are probably black with soot. Set the gap to ,035" to about .040" NAPA sells a simple cheap easy to use Gapping Tool.

    Lowest neutral idle speed ? Is not what you want. Engine adjusted for a non stalling speed in gear. When you move throttle quickly from idle speed. Or quickly pull throttle from 1/2 to idle position. Cruisers on Auto Pilot will run right over you if you stall out.

    When I get a stumble from a rapid push of the throttle lever forward. It is beginning of badly fouled TROLLING sparkplugs. Or the gas tank is running out of gas. Or some water in the gas tank and water separator bowl. It is always something.

    Johnson stops dead!

    I have to pull the flywheel off. With flywheel magnet stopped at the trigger coil. I can feel a slight flexing of the coil as I slowly move flywheel a little back and forth. Redo the screws before rubbing occurs.
