    Wiring error. Find it. Before a Power Pack is needlessly changed. Could also be a loose and corroded connection at either end of the STOP wire.

    A bearing getting very worn will cause a pulley to tilt causing rapid wear. NOT all bearings cause noise as they age.

    Well the factory or dealer did a terrible job. 2004 engine is out of any factory help if further problems arise. 20 trouble free years is a excellent engine.

    I am waiting for my marina mechanic to get free enough. To replace my broken flywheel key. The sure symptom of a sheared flywheel KEY is starting taking several seconds AND AND having to use the choke to start the engine in the morning. After engine warms up ? No choke is needed. Anyone know...

    I am not sure. But I think lots of stuff was overheated without water circulated by the running engine. Good Luck Are you trying to start with that run down battery ?
