    I agree, what HP motor is the boat rated for? what prop are you running? is the trim set all the way down when trying to get on plane?

    There is a good chance that the water cooling passages are plugging up in a 34 year old motor due to mineral build up, so someone removed the stat to try to solve the over heating, but it did not help. you can either run some marine descaler thru the motor for a few hours or take the motor...

    from what I am understanding, it does not have anything to do with the milling of the head, it is to do with the possible warping of the head before or during the welding

    sounds like he needs to check the cam bearings line up after welding and before milling. If out , maybe line boring the cam holes and then see if you can find new cam bearings to fit the new hole size

    so is the warp of the head the problem or is the milling of the head surface the problem? if the head was not warped and all the cam bearing are still in line, then resurfacing the head should not be a problem, right?

    in line with what? I am failing to see how the alignment would change by resurfacing the head to block surface. the belt has tensioner to take up slack.

    not sure what the changing of the oil pump has to do with your problem or what the line large hanging up is about. Or how changing the oil pump would affect the fuel pressure regulator screen. monitor the fuel pressure to see what it is doing when the problem shows up. moving the throttle...

    fire the motor up and get it warmed up , shut off, and pump it out. long as you get the tube to the bottom of the pan it will be the same as pulling the drain plug. what do you think will be so heavy that it would settle out into the bottom of the pan and not be able to suck it out?
