    I see evidence on scoring in cylinders.----No magic potion can fix that.----Yes the motor can run the way it is.----There is a difference between " running " and running as designed.

    Transom replacement or design flaw?

    They forgot ( saved money ) by not putting a brace ( knee ) between transom and bottom of the hull.-----Easy fix for me here.

    The pulse limiter is a " FLOWFUSE " for the VRO pump housings.-----Not needed for other style pumps.----I see a 57D or 59D for the 150 model.

    I see the scoring.----Motor must come apart to be refurbished.----Inspect all parts and decide on a path forward.----Note----I own more than one of this motor type.-----Last one i got for free.----Most shops do not want to work on them anymore.

    The oil mixing unit was under the oil tank.----Separate from pumps.----I have more than a few of these motors for parts.----Bought 3 one time and each one had oil tank and mixing unit removed.

    I doubt you will ever find one at 165 PSI.-----Remove bypass cover and have a look at pistons / rings.----Just 3 screws and make a new gasket.

    Those 25 / 35 HP all had 2 fuel pumps installed at the factory.

    Correct----The spring keep choke plates from moving at full throttle.

    There is absolutely nothing wrong with the concept of hydro-electric shift.----Elegantly simple and reliable.----Just not well understood by folks today.

    The water passage to the block is cast in place in the exhaust housing..----Just a more " modern " looper design.----A very strong motor with a slightly different version of a 70 HP crankshaft.----Same main bearings as the 70 HP.

    The 7.5 ( COMET ) model has smaller intake ports than the 9.8 version.-----Throttle does not need to be open for a compression test.------Remove bypass cover to look for possible piston / ring damage if you feel compression is low.

    I doubt you can pull the exhaust cover on this motor !----There is not one.

    The lower unit should slide into place.-----Never use the bolts to pull it together.-----If the oil mixing unit is still in use , take it off and throw it away.

    Just zoomed in on the control box.-----Boat in post #1.-----Appears to have a throttle and shift cable.----Not electric shift and 73 or newer motor.

    What item # is 350943 and on what parts page ?-----To me it looks like it was machined ( error ) and let go by inspection.----In 2000 there were issues with OMC as company was in trouble.

    Those carburetors are NOT SENSITIVE at all.----Very simple and reliable.-----But if carburetor bowls ( plastic ? ) are warped you may see issues.
