    Propane torch and heat the housing.----Aluminum expands at twice the rate of steel.-----Screws usually come out.

    Turn the unit up-side down.----Try and poke the driveshaft up and into the pinion gear.----Works for me every time.

    ???----You can have zero compression in one crankcase and still show 120 PSI in the that cylinder.----Checked the reed valves ?

    Don't worry about the carburetors !-----Likely the junk went past the reed valves and to the bottom of the lake.------Start the motor and let it idle for 10 minutes.----If it runs fine than just go fishing.

    And the 1.5 / 2 / 6 / 18 / 20 / 25 / 28 / 30 / 33 / 35 / 40 HP all used this simple magneto from about 1950 to 1990.-----An elegantly simple unit.

    A proper test is done on a MERC-O-TRONIC magneto analyzer.-----I never check for ohms on coils.------If spark does not jump a 1/4" gap or more replace them.----If coils are cracked , replace them.
