    merc harness, both boat and engine harness will have wiring for a tach.. it will be a gray wire for signal.. from reg/rectifier to tach...... copy and paste tha below in your address bar and enter... it will ope a pdf that has all you will need...

    should be a gray wire under tha dash.. tha other end should be plugged into a gray wire on one of tha rec/reg..... thats tha "signal" circuit... did tha boat not come with a tach or are you jus now adding one?

    if carbs and fuel pressure are right you should not see any accumulation of any fuel mixture in tha throats other than a slight residue no mater what tha humidity. might check tha reeds.... it has 143* stats so that should be good.. if you don't have an over heat warning buzzer ya need to fix...

    with a "good battery program" and if you run any type electrics at all, even if you use tha tilt n trim while ya runnin', no regulator will be fine... never ran one on any of my 16 amp stuff both production and high performance motors for a lotta years... jus make sure ta keep healthy...

    "float test the idle stabilizer".... ya might consider tha oiler too if that hasn't already been deleted.... if you know tha history of tha motor and its care (never been over heated main item) and tha oiler is workin' ok at this time) then ya might wanna leave it alone,, your choice.... bu8h...

    unless you "index" tha flywheel so to check each cylinder i think you should run it at around 22* crankin'.. reason is you don't know what each cylinder is without doin' it.. its possible for any other cylinder other than #1 to be a coupla degrees more... you will never notice tha difference...

    if you poppet has a two bolt cover tha its gonna be part #65663A2 if it has a four bolt cover its ganna be part #14462 turbo explains alot!.. not one of tha favorites.. pressure should be 3 ta 7 at idle and 12 ta 18 at wfo..... when ya changed tha pump did you replace it all or jus tha...
