    Mercruiser 5.7 Running Issues

Only fuel injected motors can legally have the fuel pump on when only the ignition is turned on. Still need more info to know just what you have. Post serial number, or a pic of the label on the flame arrestor cover over your carb.

    Mercruiser 5.7 Running Issues

Don't really have enough information to answer precisely your questions. What Merc 5.7 motor do you have? MPI, carbed? They are totally different. Late model with ECU? Serial Number would definitely help.

Mercury 6.2L Loss of Planning Power/ Top End

600 hours is just getting broke in. Wonder if you are getting waterlogged somehow.

    Stalling issue mercruiser 5.0 v8

If you missed the timing on the shift shafts when you mated upper and lower it wouldn't shift into gear. That won't cause it to stall when you are in gear. Look to your motor and carburetor, not your drive.

Lower compression in one cylinder boat won’t start… ideas before I tear down 😒

Well, you ain't there yet. Lots of help here. This forum is for do it yourselfers. If you are in that mindset, you can get all the information you ever wanted or needed to get things up and running. At this point you need to slow down and get really systematic. Start on the compression issue...

Lower compression in one cylinder boat won’t start… ideas before I tear down 😒

I get the impression this is a new to you used boat? And probably a 3.0L merc in it? If so, along with figuring out the motor issues, you need to start going through all the regular maintenance items, front to back. Lots of clues here that the boat is poorly maintained. It over heats - needs...

    Spark plug gap difference

You can gap iridium plugs. A little care is all it takes. Not sure the value with iridium in most boats as their purpose is extended life. In my admittedly limited experience, most pleasure boats don't get enough use to justify it. You can substitute to different compatible plugs to your hearts...

    slipping coupler?

I would think at this point you have to pull the drive and inspect the coupler with a light through the gimbal bearing. Also look close at the splines on the drive shaft to see if much or any metal build up there.

    A1G2 decisions. Rebuild or replace?

And as noted by the OP, you can pull the lag screws out of the front mounts and see if you can wriggle things straight. Whatever it takes is valid.

    A1G2 decisions. Rebuild or replace?

Some members have noted using a pipe that has an outside 1 1/8" diameter plugged into the coupler and sticking through the gimbal bearing to see the angles. The pipe will give you some clues as to exactly where the engine is. As this drawing shows, the coupler will snug fit a 1.150 diameter...

    A1G2 decisions. Rebuild or replace?

First would examine the rear mount bushings and see if they are collapsed or missing any parts.

Engine runs fine. Won’t start after it gets warm.

Ah, carb cleaner. Didn't look like fuel to me. Spraying carb cleaner is about as useful as getting a flu shot squirted on your head. Probably needs rebuilding with a quality carb kit.

Just a screw on can. Replace when you winterize each year.

    Mercruiser 3.0 Mercarb

Good if expensive choice. I dislike ethanol in a boat. That doesn't cover whether there is water and or ethanol left over in the tank. You want a water separator. iBoats is a good source and is one place where I WOULD buy a Sierra.

    Mercruiser 3.0 Mercarb

My personal opinion is the Sierra is cheap chinesium junk and as likely to be the failure point as cruddy fuel.

    Mercruiser 3.0 Mercarb

Other things to consider are fuel quality/cleanliness. Quality fresh filters. Water separation filter and no water getting past it to the carb.
