All tradesman above are old school guys. Prop guy (still a hand banger) is 65.....machine shop guy is 70 and it's his grandfather's old shop and my maritime welder buddy 63. They all said the same thing. Stainless steel wire brush. I'm sticking with them thanks

Does your motor look like this? If so what parts do you need? Tim did me a hell of a favor and I think paying it forward would be a nice thing to do. Let me know what you need and just pay the shipping.

3 welders told me this....one a professional prop guy who is a close friend, my machine shop buddy who's an expert welder and a professional welder who works in the marine fishing industry and has 110 guys welding on his staff. No grinders.

I was told not to use a grinder on the alum....puts impurities in the metal. Stainless steel brush only. Crosby....I might have some Merc 7.5 parts for you. Let me check and I'll get back to you.

Be interesting to try the aluminum brazing rod....I bought some at the boat show years ago to patch my aluminum boat but couldn't get it to stick. He sure makes it look easy as did the salesman at the boat show. Might have to try it again as he said it's 2 gen rod. I know when welding aluminum...

I like the radiator people advice....drain the oil, leave out the plugs and have them slug some on. Grind/polish and paint. Easy peasy. It's an E-Tech, she's worth it!

    87 Johnson 30

Hi, 2 questions. I have a 87 Johnson 30hp short with electric start remote engine. 1st q.....trim and tilt seems to be non-existent for that motor, anyone have a line on a decent cmc used one? Also, stock tach seems to be tough to find as well. Anyone know of a cheap auto one that I can use just...

78 Johnson 115 Running Great! But Bow of Boat is "Plowing"?

Depends on water as well.....rough, bow down, flat nose up. Play around with the trim until you get comfortable. When the weather is calm, I start with the nose down....I punch it and as it planes I start being the nose up. At that point I listen for the outboard to slightly cavitate and then...

    Winterize evinrude 50

I live in Seattle and after lowering it and draining it I lift it up. Like crosby says make sure the drain hole is open so it doesn't hold water. You can ask other boaters in your area but I wouldn't want my motor wrapped in snow. Also you can make or buy a motor cover and rest easy. Make sure...
