    Run with a timing light hooked up.----One cylinder at a time.----Might be able to spot if it is one cylinder or all that is missing.-----You did replace the wee rubber boots where plug wires screw into the distributor cap ?

    A 1979 would be white.----A 1979 has electronic ignition.------These motors were essentially the same year after year.----Great fishing motors and easy to maintain.----Check ignition coils.-----Check thermostat.

    In the 1960's and early 1970's all the OMC motors used type -C gear oil.-----Then HI-VIS came out and type -C was only specified for electric shift.

    Put 6 drops of fuel into the sparkplug holes.----Install plugs and wires.----Pull on the cord.-----What happens?

    The primer solenoid is a valve and not a pump.----Test with another fuel tank.-----There may be issues with venting.

    To lower idle speed on most 2 stroke outboards you RETARD the timing by rotating the magplate or timing base.
