    Depending on the dryness of the wood a second coat of resin may not be out of the question. When I coated mine the first coat all but disappeared.

    The stress cracking in the gelcoat leads me to suspect some possible transom issues starting. My boat had this problem (albeit much worse) and my transom was shot. I'm not saying yours is shot but may be at least worth investigating.

    Around here most use the 91 octane because it is non-ethanol and being my boat is an 88 I am sure it was designed for 87 but is there any other benefit to running the non-ethanol other than the longer shelf life? (what I have been told many times)

    @LaqueRatt here is a better picture of the cracking on the exterior of the transom, Just to give you an idea. I found this while I was looking through some other pictures, I'm not sure if this example is extreme but any cracks in the gelcoat in this area should raise concern :)
