    Leaking water into cowl

Could be.....hard to tell from video. Make sure it's not coming from the black hose (pin hole) that goes to your TT. Otherwise, yes those would need to be replaced and you would need to check flatness of your head. Bolts can be tricky, be careful. Salt water use?

Need advise on 1991 48 HP Special Evinrude

The 48 special was made to be cheaper...that's what "special" means I guess. I looked at 50 HP in that year and couldn't find any new ones just parts. I did find this company (not sure their real) and they rebuild them. 1st picture is what I believe is the one you would want and the 2nd link is...

    2002 60 H.P. Tiller—two questions . Revving/running oddly. Original prop

To elaborate more on the prop question, if your satisfied at what the prop is doing for your boat (usually means your tachometer is in the rpm range that your motor recommends) take your existing prop to a propeller shop and they will tell what you have. You can then purchase one from them. I...

1988 Evinrude 120 V4 -Suddenly going into SLOW Mode at WOT. Video included

Well, your convinced it slow mode and it might be....so look at the 4th reply in this thread/forum and then the other link is how to replace the diode. Doesn't look very fun. https://www.aomci.org/forums/topic/93-70hp-wiring-harness-diode/ https://www.crowleymarine.com/d/tech_article/diode-kit

    Slow mode vro

Is that a 77 remote box or the one with the big red plug inside the motor. My mechanic back in the day used to put a metal thing inside under the key area to test the alarm. As far as the slow mode the guy just under you in the postings is having similar issues. Lots of historical post on it but...

1988 Evinrude 120 V4 -Suddenly going into SLOW Mode at WOT. Video included

From everything I've read it 2500 for your motor. Did you read about the diod that can go out in your harness and cause it?

1988 Evinrude 120 V4 -Suddenly going into SLOW Mode at WOT. Video included

Not sure 3500 would be considered a "slow mode" my outboard, while quite newer, takes me down to 1200 rpm's. Seems like 3500 if your running hot or low oil wouldn't be very "safe" did you read somewhere that that is the safe or slow RPM? Here is a screen shot of something I found with a...

1988 Evinrude 120 V4 -Suddenly going into SLOW Mode at WOT. Video included

Neutral revving to that degree is not very good for your motor. A little rev to start it up is fine then you need to back off pretty quick and then let it warm up at a slightly higher idle. I too thought you would show us a video with it in gear doing what you said....that's the only way to test...

johnson 70hp 2 stroke 1995 shut down when warm

Here is what I mean, 3 to 4 hours south of the border drive from you.....maybe. I didn't see any in Vancouver but I'm sure they come up. Older 2 strokes are on the way out so if your patient, you can find a used one for fairly cheap. If used correctly they are very reliable outboards. The lower...

johnson 70hp 2 stroke 1995 shut down when warm

With your limited knowledge that's a tough one. You could pull the head and see if the gasket let go. You would also need to know why it happened. Usually cheaper and easier to find a new used outboard. Sorry it happened to you.

1985 evinrude 30 hp prop power issue

Omc manual with sync and linkage adjustments. For some reason I thought you said the butterfly valves in your carb weren't opening all the way. Anyhow, here it is.

1985 evinrude 30 hp prop power issue

Try this link. Older motor so not sure it's the same but I think it might be. The 3rd thing he does with the rod on the side under the flywheel is making sure the butterfly opens all the way. Also, revving the motor in neutral doesn't work because there is no load on the motor.

Yes, I wrote it down incorrectly. It's a P and not an F. That solves that issue anyways.

I couldn't find that, I'll look again. Thanks for the help by the way and the pdf. As far as the model numbers, I know the conversion, it's when I went to the place to buy parts online it doesn't show my model...just some that are like it. I guess trim relays and motors are all the same that...

    Etec forum

Anyone know if there is still a forum just for E-Tech owners? I used to go through e Nation but when BRP collapsed so did E- Nation. I joined up for Barnacle bills and I read posts but I couldn't find a way to make a post. There's some stuff on the hull truth but I ended up having the same...

    1975 25hp sneeze, and screw?

This is a little out of my pay grade and I'm not sure if this applies to your older motor. I had an 83, 30 horse and you had to run what I'm assuming is the timing quarter inch past the lines. There was an Evinrude update on that. My motor was doing the same thing, sneezing that is and once I...

No worries, just thought you might want to know. Model number J=Johnson, 70=hp, T=trim and tilt, L=Long shaft, EN=year. Here is the conversion.
