Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

Having the Bow Plowing when on Plane is not good from a Safety Standpoint. It can create a Condition where the Bow becomes a pivot Point and the Stern will Violently snap around when the Motor is steered

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

A 4 blade will likely drop you about 4 - 5 mph. And and will likely require 3 to 4 drop in Pitch to restore the Rpms. Your 18 gals of Ballast is a variable Ballast, as the day goes by, the boat's trim will be different resulting in changes to the Boats Trim. Switching from a AL to a SS, is...

1995 25hp Johnson 2 stroke, what are the best years for the 25 hp?

Some people like the Big Twin Models from the early 1950s thru 55, others are partial to the 22cu.in models of 1969-1977. Others like the 32.5cu.in models from 1977- till OMCs demise. There are likely some who like the 3 cylinder model in the late 90s. We had a 1979 version(32.5cu.in.), it was...

    I’m at a loss - Evinrude 40

Those plugs look awfully wet. The Center Electrode, also looks like it was attacked by a Chisel, but perhaps that is a Lighting issue. I am thinking you have a High Fuel Level in the Carb Bowls. BTW. You haven't been exactly Forthcoming in your Posts. Example; You only checked One of the 2...

    I’m at a loss - Evinrude 40

You need to be testing this stuff under Load. Voltage requirements will change when an Engine is loaded. It comes down to this: Compression, Spark, and Fuel, and the correct amount of each for the engine to run as designed. When I asked what the Plugs looked like I was hoping you would take a...

    I’m at a loss - Evinrude 40

When people are asking about the Timing Light, they are not necessarily asking about the Timing, but that have you used it to detect an Intermittent Miss of the Ignition. As for the link and Sync... You need the correct Service Manual(preferable Factory) to get the proper settings and...

    I’m at a loss - Evinrude 40

32.5mph? That sounds a little high, but with one of the prop rated engines(post 84/85), I would expect about 28-29mph

What is necessary for jet change of .002 of an inch?

Drilling an Orifice is not a Recommended Procedure, as the Original Orifice was likely not drilled, and after drilling, even though the Orifice is now larger, it might actually flow less fuel than prior to drilling Why are you replacing the Jets in the first place? You really don't want to be...

    Skiing behind Scarab Jet Boat

One would think that the Water behind a Prop Boat would be less solid due to the Turbulence from the Gearcase, the Prop Blades, and from the Engine Exhaust rising up. The Water behind a jet hull should be more Solid as none of those Items exist on a Jet system

    2010 Tahoe Q5i 4.3l will only make 3500-3700 rpm, 32 mph

I run an Enertia, and have a couple of RAKERs for spares I would scuttle my boat rather put a 4 Blade on it

Old Evinrude question, Can anyone help?

This was how it was done on the Cables that would have been used way back when. I think the Newer Cables are preassembled and really can't be tinkered with.

Old Evinrude question, Can anyone help?

In 74, I did the Clothesline thing on my dads boat. It lasted about 10 hrs and the Wires Broke, and the Plastic Stretched about 8 inches. Could have been a real Catastrophe. Got the proper Stuff and installed it.

Choosing first prop to run .

Some Years, that Bracket was mounted like you have it, then the Next year the Part with the Knob was Flipped around so it was installed from behind, closer to the Engine. Our 57 35hp was that way. If the Face of the Part on the Motor is Flat, then you have it correct. If where the Pin goes...
