    Quit on the Water!

Part numbers should be easy. But I'm confused. Earlier you brought up a link to a 1975 9.9 then Jimbo sent you a 65 fastwin picture or link, not sure. What is the model number and I will send you the link.

    Quit on the Water!

Well I've certainly learned something here. And then i am somewhat familiar with electric over hydraulics because I had a vehicle with an emergency braking system. I think it was called a Gurling (SP) system. I've seen a cutaway of a G2 and they referred to the engine as a "fly by wire" They...

What are good internet places to get vintage Evinrude parts?

Well your statement is very debatable. I find Craigslist to be the best all around but eBay has more inventory. If you find some secrete place that has vintage outboards parts for cheap please let me know. Otherwise, there are plenty of places that sell new parts. By the way, what do you...

Trim stuck all the way up

I just saw another blog and other than the noise they said it was an air lock situation. Only way to relive it was to open the bleed screw. They also said if you can't get the screw open (very common) than you will have to remove the trim and tilt. They also said low oil can creat that...

    Quit on the Water!

Yes, but the principles are the same. Aren't we just talking solenoids?

    Quit on the Water!

I see, the all in one coil.....and weaker spark too. I stand corrected, those older models are tough for me. My uncle was an OMC dealer in the 60 and 70's but I really didn't start working with him until later. I was around him a lot though and I remember watching him work on those things...

Trim stuck all the way up

Yes, some are that way, not sure why though, they should be hex if you ask me. Hopefully the impact will work. I use mine a lot. Another thing there should be an adjustment somewhere preventing how far up it goes. Some motor wells will hit if you go to hi and that adjustment prevents that. I'm...

    9.9 Spewing Fuel

Missed the model number, please excuse. I don't think Amazon sells you the oem part, probably Sierra.....and yes I buy from Amazon store for the same reason but I don't like them and believe it or not I'm from Seattle! They sell for less than it cost them to get rid of the competition. I'm...

    9.9 Spewing Fuel

1971 Johnson 25hp convert to electric start?

Bullet proof? Glad to see you took the advice from the people here and got some parts motors. Personally, put them away and be ready when the bullet proof motor needs something. Just saying....

Trim stuck all the way up

That's a tough one. Doesn't the screw have two options. Standard bit and a hex head (socket) ? Sounds like something let go when you heard the noise.

1990 ish Evinrude 25 HP - Screeching from the controls

If you have a inexpensive thermal gun you can point it on the head and water jacket? Others might say but I think no more than 130 to 135. We always used a wax but that was back in the day.

    Quit on the Water!

Is your spark tester adjustable? 3/16 and 3/8 are quite a bit different. Never tried the hairdryer but you will need to heat more than just the pick up coils. Ignition coils might be doing it to.... Have you ever been able to make the condition at home? Or is only out when your under load and...

Should I buy a 115 hp Johnson built in 2000?

Here probably. Just put in a search.

    1991 20HP Evinrude no acceleration

Funny, it's the same prop as the one I was holding in my hand. I'd sell it to you but the shipping would probably be quite a bit. Feeling like driving to Seattle? Anyhow, in all my years, I've never spun one. But to me it looks like the smoking gun. Nasty burnt looking rubber and I believe the...

    1982 glastron ssv 176

Take it to a truck scale somewhere. A saturated boat weighs a ton. Also, pull carb cover with engine off and push throttle to full. Make sure carbs go to full open.

    Quit on the Water!

I think I would put it back together and do a spark JUMP test. Not spark, but determine that you have a good spark. Pretty sure others will say "your had a 3/8 jump. Then run it until you have the condition again (no running) and then check for GOOD spark. If you have good spark then you can...

Won't run right once warmed up.

I see, well it's not the check valve then. Seems like a flooding issue I'm sure you will get some more opinions soon.

1990 ish Evinrude 25 HP - Screeching from the controls

Gosh, wouldn't that be something. They may not have known?!

Won't run right once warmed up.

There are others here that have more experience working on them and I'm sure they will give there input but I had friends with similar instances with their VRO rudes. It's been a while but I think there is a check valve in the oiling system that goes bad and brings those results. Remove the oil...
