    Water when pulling stern drive

I usually use my omnipresent permatex to hold it in place, has anyone heard of a slip/failure using that?

    165 MERCRUISER

I got one of these for the speedometer. Other functions work (except for tach, still haven't figured that out) fine, but I disconnected because I prefer the analog gauges. ELING 6-in-1 Multi-Functional Adjustable GPS Speedometer Tachometer Voltmeter Oil Pressure Fuel Level Water Temp Gauge...

    Deleting the voltage regulator 470

No issue, but no benefit either. Don't you have enough to do to keep your 470 running 😀

    Time to chuck the 470

Not true. A change in power in either direction would/might require a different ratio drive or prop. No need to mess with transom plate unless moving to an a1g2 setup.

    Stall during acceleration

Haven't seen it mentioned if you've tried the different adjustments on the accel pump linkage. 3 different holes that adjust the amount of the pump shot

    Time to chuck the 470

5.7 just as plentiful, parts maybe cheaper. Drive isn't a big deal. Find a used one on cl and sell yours.

    Time to chuck the 470

Why would anyone even consider going through the trouble and expense of a repower and go *down* in power? 4.3 is a decent bump over the 3.7, definitely a smoother engine. The extra weight makes a big difference. 3.7 is plenty reliable once the original sins of the engine are taken care of. Parts...

At wits end Runs great for 20miles then knocking then sputtering 3.0

Just found an issue with my choke not opening all the way, dunno when it started but my flame arrester was sooty, boat had been running pretty well at the end of season but lost a few wot mph. Also my ngk plugs used to rust up like that. Switched to the rust resistant ac Delco. Have you looked...

    Stall during acceleration

No mechanical advance on his engine. I think we're talking about a Weber/Edelbrock, in which case the secondaries are weighted, no adjustment

    4.3 intake manifold drain video

This is actually pretty complicated. A lot has to do with the shape of the container and the conductivity of the walls. I think we can agree that if you put an inch of water on a baking sheet outside that the sheet won't be distorted, but if you had a closed container filled completely that...

    4.3 intake manifold drain video

TL;DR: it isn't necessary to drain the intake manifold on a mercruiser 4.3l. So there's been a good deal of discussion about whether the intake manifold needs to be drained on mercruiser 4.3s. I know that OMC (and/or Volvo?) Had a service bulletin that recommended it, but I've never seen...

    4.3 Harmonic Balancer

when I was looking at it after the fact, it didn't seem that the reluctor interfered with the damper, but not sure. The damper came from an '89 and was installed in an '01 blazer block.
