    It has an ignition miss just before it dies. This is either due to trigger fixing to fail(bad connections kill em) crumbling wiring to trigger loosing connection when advanced.

    1997-98 where the only Fichts with ignition module, the EMM fires the module. Get a OEM manual and test or call DFI and Marine Computer. Also double check the CPS.

    Never had to use a board or jack to disassemble these..rubber mallet yes. Why are you replacing gears anyway?

    I suggest a new impeller and a good bottom cleaning. Growth on boat especially in front of engine can disturb water flow and cause engine to overheat .

    That model should have the threaded coupler since its a 4S. Loosen jam nut with 10mm wrench while holding coupler.
