    If you shifting too slow it will bang into gear, should be a smooth fast motion from N to F

    Definitely has a electrical problem...take a timing light to each cylinder and see if one is misfiring.

    1100 RPM on hose is normal...no back pressure. Should see 900- 1000 RPM in water. As Duke said adjust to what makes motor happy not spec. I have had older motors like yours be happier at the 2-4 degrees than the 6 °. Make sure it has gap to help bogging

    1) Either someone left drain plug in and submerged oil tank. 2) Has a remote oil fill that is leaking 3) Need to do a compression test

    OEM Manual will answer all your question. Tear it down first before buying anything to see if worth repairing.
