This timing is killing me, should be this hard

Light bulb just went on, you have a EFI motor, so you shouldn't be using the shunt. There should be a connector on the distributor which goes to the ECM. The connector is not to be removed to install a shunt, the DLC connector is used to place the motor in base timing You need a paper clip...

This timing is killing me, should be this hard

I'm seeing that you should have the EST distributor, and i this is the case, then you connect the shunt and connect the wire "to a 12V source" The below pic is for a Merc and you don't have a shift interrupter, so just connect the lead to 12V

Alarm sound stays on and wiring issue

Could use a motor serial number, don't even know the year, efi, mpi, carb? With the motor not running the oil pressure switch sounds the alarm. Once started it would shut off Does the alarm stop when the motor starts? Check the neutral safety switch inside the throttle control

    Winterize a 1993 7.4 Bravo Gen V

Have not said if the motor is closed cooled (heat exchanger) or not?? Being a 93 it wouldn't have Blue plugs unless they where change to them by the PO. It would normally have 1/8 NPT brass plugs. The PS cooler will have a plug when removed will drain the hose coming from the seawater pump...

Should I reuse these old fuel water separators?

I think I know which questions you might be asking but would be better if they where just asked so we can cover them to the best of our non-expert options Note these are all done with "IF" they are used, and not are used Speaks of material which must be used if metalic is used. Another if...

    Steady tone alarm

Don't have other thoughts, but a voltmeter is the only way I would know of tracing the power, need to trace from the horn. This is a Gxi-C/D and may be of help

    Tractor A/C pressures R134a

Trying to determine the correct pressures for my Kubota M9540 tractor. The cab filters are clean and so is the radiator and condenser. Looked into the duct work and the damper doors look to be working correctly, and it does go into cab air recirculate. Pressures on a 85+ degree day is 50 psi...

1977 120hp omc sterndrive starter circuit problems

Check the voltage on the start post of the ignition switch to see if 12V remains when the key is released. If it remins then your new switch is bad If voltage is not present, then check your wiring at the assist solenoid

Can bilge water get into the pds bearings and upper outdrive?

Not seeing a drive shaft being only 5 inches, the oil pan is generally a bit more then that and its not sitting on the bottom. What motor is it? In any case, the pic below is an Alpha and your in the VP section, but distances are the same, because the VP and Merc uses the same key hole cut...

Mercruiser 3.0 - Replacing the Starter, What Else to Check?

Coil? Never had a coil go bad.

The motor has points so there will be 2 feeds to the coil. One without any resistance feeding the coil full 12V for starting (purple/yellow wire) One "with" resistance feeding the coil once it starts (purple "see dotted wire) Resistance is measured with ignition OFF and using an ohm meter

Fuel gauge won’t go below 1/2 full

Don't see anything blowing up, but would like to know how the switch works. Normally there would be two connections in the middle, and that would make it a DPDT Not finding two connections in the middle would make me think it would be a single "common" pole, so SPDT. My first drawing shows...

bilge pump manual switch not working (working float)

Think you have a SPST switch and is not a 2 way switch (ON or Auto). If this is the case then you may have 2 fuses as in this pic (ignore the alarm). You would not have a exposed splice, you have a brown and brown/white wires. The switch passes current, so there is either a fuse down stream...
