    Oh yeah, my last gauge (water temp) should finally arrive tomorrow. :rolleyes: If the weather cooperates, I'm hoping for a flurry of activity and progress. My wife is off work all next week and it would be nice to get her out on the boat at last. :cool:

    My buddy came over this evening and popped the steering system off for me. I'm hoping to get it sanded and painted tomorrow, but I have an obligation in the morning, so don't know if I'll be back in time to avoid the heat. And I have to buy some more blue satin paint and a can of white satin...

    Transom replacement 1975 18' SS

    I don't know about the SS, but on my Kingfisher and Chieftain, the hull drain plug tube didn't need to be removed, because the transom is far above it. I know that the Chief has drain tubes on the splashwell though.

    Infected Molar Tooth suffering needlessly.

    Yep, I had an infected tooth and went to my primary care for amoxicillin. The nurse pointed out that the tooth location and infection was less than 2 inches from my brain. Not good. I got the tooth pulled once the infection cleared.

    Good work so far! I've seen a lot of very large boats with actual engine rooms that have the engines painted gloss white. Supposedly to quickly show any kind of leak. And I've also seen hot 2-strokes painted the same way for the same reason.

    The trim gauge arrived this afternoon. Naturally, I had to go mock it into place for a looksee. :cool: I tried it in the innermost hole, but I couldn't see the gauge because of the steering wheel. Moved it to the center and that was perfect. I'll put the fuel gauge in the innermost location...

    And this morning I put on the final coats of paint, replaced the hardware and mocked everything into place. I chose this blue because it's a pretty good complement to the other blues in the boat. And I chose satin instead of gloss because I didn't want the parts to look all "plasticky."...

    7-6-25 I sanded the glove box panel down and got all the uglies off of it. :LOL: Then I sprayed on the first coat of Krylon Fusion satin blue and hung it out to dry. Nothing like sitting and watching paint dry. :cool: The first coat went on fine.
