    1979 Starcraft American Offshore 22’

what is the powertrain in it OB or IO? if IO certainly look at the bellows. Both will need impellers replaced. If I recall older starcrafts would get cracks on the chine, may have been models earlier than yours. Also can leak at the rivets.

    alpha 1 gen 1 noise

Split the halves to see if it can be isolated upper and lower - at this point you are into tearing it down to see what the issue is- most likely a bearing if the gears are ok. You cant get very far into the drive with out some merc specific tools , which is why folks generally get a SEI drive or...

Need help reinstalling choke linkage (Mercarb 1389-9562 carburetor)

thats the accelerator pump lever. you will have to take the top off the carb and there is a set screw holding to to the pump inside the carb. the smaller rod uses a small cotter pin or clip to hold it on. Mikes carb parts has some god videos of mercrab rebuilds not sure if its on his website...

thinking of a Delco EST ignition system conversion but have a few concerns....

If you can still get good sets of replacement points I wouldn’t spend the money for the delco. I filed and gapped a set of points this spring on a 1973 evinrude, runs like new now ( also rebuilt the carb). From the looks of them and the amount of rubbing block wear they are probably original...

Need help: Bizarre Bravo III freshwater galvanic corrosion quandry

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

usually the fuel line is 3/8" double flare like brake lines would think you can get a coupler and a short section of line cut in half & use some 3/8 ID hose to splice in your T for the gauge The TKS uses an enrichment module (valve) to richen the fuel mixture until the engine warms up, it...

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

At this point I would test the fuel pressure on the water at the rpm where you feel like you are hitting the wall where it should be doing better. if the float wasnt cracked its probably all right. Mikes carbs had at one time brass floats for mercarbs not sure if TKS is the same thing. the 3...

1997 Mercruiser 4.3 LX not running steady steady at idle or higher RPM's

Yes the advance knob should compensate so the light hits on the tdc mark -say you want 8 deg BTDC set the knob to 8 should offset the light to flash on the tdc mark. Also can be used to test total advance which is also important

I saw new fuel pump but was fuel pump pressure measured under load ? my other hobby is old cars - its a chronic issue with mechanical fuel pumps these days - the pressure output is all over the place, even on what was historically considered good brands

    Carb tuning

yes some of the factory webber carbs used 3 step metering rods not sure which engines etc but there were a few. Can only think it shows that the binary rich/lean didnt work that well. I found the pump rod linkage slop when I put the AFR meter on. I never would have found it unless I had the...
