    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

Milton definitely has me more concerned than any of the others I've been through over the last 26 years, even Charley. And I got hit directly by Charley when I bugged out and it changed direction, ripping the roof off the hotel where I was staying. 😬

    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

I get paid once a month, so did my usual shopping a few days ago after Helene passed. The freezers and fridge are full. Not good. :(

    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

I just had a minor freak-out, but it turned out okay. I called the hotel to get details on pet policy and was told that not all reservations worked because the big companies, like Expedia and others, were issuing "reservations" when none actually existed. Fortunately, mine were valid because...

    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

Man, it's starting to feel like 2004 all over again.

    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

These storms in the Gulf are tough. They gen up quickly and we don't have as much time to figure the track, like we do with Atlantic storms. I just booked a hotel about 40 miles away, because there was no availability closer. Many hotels have folks impacted by Helene already there. Right...

    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

Looks like we're in for it again. If it hits close to home, I'll probably have to bug out for this one. 11:00am update showing it as Tropical Depression 14 becoming Milton, a Cat 2 or possible Cat 3 by landfall on Oct 9th with winds of 110mph and high tidal surge. You can bet that we're...

    Hurricane Helene

Man, Helene has done such incredible damage through the south. NC, SC, TN and KY all hurting. Virginia too. On the news this morning I saw the sheriff from the county where Asheville, NC is and he stated that there are over 1,000 people unaccounted for in the county. Could be from lack of...

    Hurricane Helene

All safe here. Lost a few roof shingles, but that's about it. No biggie. Winds were 50-70mph. It's an old roof, so when we replace it (later), we'll upgrade to the new metal shingles. 🙃

    That's 31.5 ounces. 😝

    Hurricane Helene

There was a gap in the storm this morning, so my wife and I decided to go fishing! https://forums.iboats.com/threads/hurricane-bite.775149/

    Hurricane bite!

This morning there was a gap in the hurricane, so my wife and I decided to hit our favorite lunker hole. When we arrived, the sidewalk leading to the pond was completely flooded over, about ankle deep. I chose not to ruin my New Balance shoes or risk walking barefoot, but my wife wasn't...

Getting first rain from the system now. 🌧️

    Hurricane Helene

Hoping everyone in the path has the hatches battened down. We have our place secured and are prepped for the event. Looks like we'll get 50-80MPH winds here.

    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

My wife and I got out there this morning and got the trolling motor hard mounted. It went on quickly and easily because I bought an extension for my impact driver bits. Worked a treat. With the extension, I was able to easily reach the screw heads which are between the mount rails...

    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

Not much progress being made. I had a bad health week, but I did get out there for a short while this afternoon. It was cloudy for much of the day, so the temps were only in the low 80s, but humidity was still miserable. I got started on mounting the starboard side Micro Pole. Managed to...

Why I do not have new boats.

Your old prof was probably referring to Moore's Law which states that computer processing power essentially doubles every two years. And I look forward to the click-zoom boat functionality again! I bought my 1985 Bass Tracker Tournament TX-17 new and kept it for 8 or 9 years and had no...

Why I do not have new boats.

I'm tired of dealing with old boat carp. I had a couple of old engines for sale, along with a bunch of associated parts. Got zero interest. Zero! I pulled the ads and am giving the junk to my buddy for scrap. My aluminum Chieftain project boat has been for sale for months and...

    Star trek stuff.

"...The thrusters are fueled by liquid hydrazine, which is turned into gases and released in tens-of-milliseconds-long puffs..." We used to call those "mouse farts." The combustion chamber is lined with a catalyst, which sets off the hydrazine when it's released into the chamber, causing...

How good is your diy aluminum boat paint job

A couple of caveats: if you have a fully equipped paint shop, lots of experience and aren't afraid of using hardener without buying the correct personal protection equipment (PPE), yes you can paint your boat for $100... probably more than that now though. Correct PPE. I painted my 1976...
