I can understand the desire for glass so if you make a holder for them with wood base the foam with hole the size of the glass cut tight and then a layer of wood with holes cut slightly larger they will jam into the foam and be se ure in heavy seas, not rattle and if you build right no one will...
Newspapers are soooo 20th century. But I used to do the same with the Sunday colored comics page.
I put the s..t in a box and slap a small peice of wrapping paper on, draw a bow with a 'to' name and call it good.
Location i get but don't see how a pivoting system does anything more. Just put them where you want them and at a loaded state lock them into position. Not saying is a bad thing just over thought and over engineered imo
