    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

We all have our issues, here's mine, a 25" transom that some goof cut down to use a 20" shaft motor and cut a hole in the splashwell for me to repair. The SW is around 18" deep.

    My New 1970 Starchief

Looks like you have a great memory making machine there, these little Chiefs are one of my favorite Starcraft boats. (y)

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Thanks for the update and I'm happy to know you're too tough to go down without a fight! Doctors, I guess that's why they get to "practice" medicine and the rest of us have to know our jobs or get fired.

    1978 Holiday 18

Well now I see where the welding term 'chicken scratch' came from and there was zero reasons to be welding where they did. Not sure that it would cause a serious issue down the road, just really a dumb move. At least your Holly is of the chine brace era so that's a huge plus.

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Gloss has the most solids and is what I've used. Nautolex marine vinyl at Defender is where I get mine.

    1972 Starcraft Nova

The vinyl glue I use sticks to cured Helmsman Spar which is urethane. If the OTF is not gassed out leaving only the solids adhesion won't happen with paint or adhesive.

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

Nothing worse than summer bearing down on a guy with a boat that's out of commission. I got lucky with my Chief when I found the 4.3L V6, maybe look for a similar old glasser on the cheap that has a good donor motor you need.

Don't forget the camera! Oh and for outdrive paint, they make Phantom black in rattle cans.

Beginner beginning a complete restoration - Starcraft 18

Yes on the side braces to strengthen and limit the possibility of having the side split out of your boat. I wish that SC would have figured this out sooner. The issue is. The fix are the braces isolating this area we call the spray rail to limit the flexing and possible cracking. SC factory...

Great was to use the space and it keeps those items from bouncing out under your feet all the time.

1956 StarCraft 16' boat? (ID help) please

I'm not completely familiar with the earlier 50 models of SC boats but just looking at this one, I see no similarities with any of the SC models and it has been severely mauled over the years disguising any positive model ID.

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

No problem adding a new V6 150 on a 22'r. That brochure has the motor options not the max HP capacity, it shows the 18' SS with the same HP as 22'rs. Look at the 22' Holiday next to the SS, it says 240.

    Factory made holes in keel?

If your referring to the drain holes in the riveted on center keel strip and bottom strakes then yes the holes should be there, they are on the outside of the hull.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

I downloaded the Merc shop manual in PDF, much easier to search and print off the pages you need. The pages always get some kind of oil or grease on them so with the print outs you can just toss when done if not needed.

Wait what? No way 150, that boat has to be rated for 240. My Islander plate

I do like non skid deck coatings for their durability and lack of care they demand.

The beads mix really well in the paint, they're like a powder and take on the color of the paint.
