How to decarbon a 4 stroke

If it really concerns you, remove the plugs and spray in some SeaFoam, turn the engine over a few times with no ignition. Let sit for a few hours, if really bad do that a second time. Put plugs back in and fire it up. If there were lots of carbon buildup it will smoke like crazy, if not much...

Odds are you got the bad gas from the station unless you let your vehicle set for long periods of time, ( a month or more)...Our area had fuel issues some years back due to lack if maintenance at the local stations. Question about paint chips in fuel system

When ever I looked at boats with I/O's, first thing I consider is access for service. I do my own, so easy access is primary. Walked away from some really nice boats because of poor acess...

Question about paint chips in fuel system

Once you get things cleaned up and running, consider adding more fuel filters or figure out where the chips are coming from. I always add and extra filter of two when I get another boat. My moto is you can't have to.many..

    Thoughts on winter dust cover

If you have power, add a fan inside your boat to keep air moving. Even with my boat stored in my barn, I keep a 10" fan running to move air, it only costs pennies to operate, much less than a bottle of mildew remover ! Neighbor has a barn with no electricity and uses his boats battery to run a...

Pink Super Tech (Walmart) -50 RV and Marine ok for engine?? I always thought NO...??

Best to drain the engine of all water, then use antifreeze to flush out any water left inside. Any trapped water will be pushed out or mixed in antifreeze so it won't freeze. By doing rhis, it makes no difference which you use, but the auto stuff does help stop or slow down rust. The pink...

    Fuel starvation conundrum

Many of the E rated hoses were junk and lasted only a few years. When mine went bad in less than 3 years, I replaced it with premium A15 fuel line. The gray stuff sold at retail stores is the junk stuff.

How can I make my Tracker 40 HP faster?

Low rpm means your motor is laboring...or good for it and it uses much more fuel. Best to have it run near wot rated rpm.

With everyone having GPS on board, I think speedo's have gone by the wayside. GPS is far more accurate anyway. I wouldn't waste my beer tokens on a speedometer.

    Fuel starvation conundrum

When E fuels came to market, it was highly recommended to change fuel lines over to E rated fuels to keep the old type of hoses from failing. How many folks did that ? My neighbor collects old cars, a out 12 or thirteen from 70-80's. He went thru and replaced all the fuel lines that were made...

    Fuel starvation conundrum

I bought a small 12v electric fuel pump off Amazon for fuel for less than 15 bucks shipped. Works great for pumping out fuel tanks from snoblowers, rototillers and other toys that need fuel emptied each year. Set a 5 gallon can on the ground and let it rip. By mixing 5 gallons into your car...

    Bad Gas

Years back, I got some bad gas from a local popular fuel station. Same as you, did the glass container trick, took it to the station and they did nothing. So I waited until 5 o'clock rush, went back and showed all the patrons waiting in line the bad fuel they were about to buy. About two dozen...

    Fuel starvation conundrum

The cost of replacing all the fuel lines is a drop in the bucket when compared to all the testing and headaches you are going thru. Had an issue with fuel delivery on my outboard last year. Check the fuel line in various places and it looked fine. After the problem continued, I just said...

    Oil in spark plug well

Not common, but heard that term on ocassion. Many cylinder heads have a recess around the spark plug hole where crap often collects. Thus the reason for blowing around the plug before taking it out. Most just called it a plug recess but some referee them to wells. Just terminology depending...
