    Advice please - 1995 Merc 60 hp / Tilt-trim issues

Not an electrician here, but wanted to cover the basics before digging deeper. Have you tried using a vom to check voltages ? Others with far more electrical knowledge will hopefully chime in here..

    Advice please - 1995 Merc 60 hp / Tilt-trim issues

What is the actual voltage on your battery, just charged means nothing. If the battery is ilder, have it load tested, usually free at most auto stores. Then check connections for corrosion....for some reason electrical connections seem to corrode faster when not used. Make all connections...

What is considered correct float height , OX 66

Service manual should give you those dimensions, if you don't have one, time to get one if your doing your own work. Factory manuals are totally valuable and well worth the cost.

looking for some info/history on this "Legend/Crestliner"

Is it glass or aluminum hull ? 35 years is nothing on an aluminum hull if maintained, but a glass hull is usually rotted and needs serious work unless rebuilt recently. Aluminum boats hold value much better over the long haul where glasses become money pits after about 25 years or so. I live...

Drilling vent holes in a prop

My side console might be an exception to the full down for best hole shot idea. While it worked well on my I/O, my outboard likes to be out a bit or it just plows along. Move it out a bit and it jumps up on plane much more quickly. Experiment to see what works best. On smaller boats with...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Just like today's cell phones, people are always looking for more bells and whistles ! Mostly to brag about, most have very little actual advantage. Dealers and mfgrs love bells and whistles as they are future income for their technitions when these bells and whistles stop working !

Need Help I can’t get Johnson 55hp Motor to run right at all

Might as well get together all the info you need to get answers....first, need an accurate compression test in each cylinder with real numbers. Then check the spark jump distance with a spark jump gap tool from auto store. When you rebuilt the carbs, did you actually do a complete rebuild with...

Drilling vent holes in a prop

21" pitch sounds high, what rpm are you trying to achieve ? Two neighbors have 3.0 engines and out drives on their aluminum boats ( probably lighter than yours). And they only run 17 & 19" props.....curious here.....

    Mechanical things hate me lately

Some days you catch the elevator, other days you get the shaft ! Pretty sure we have all been there on mire than one ocassion. My weakness is plumbing...when I start a project with plumbing, I always end up redoing the whole damn house before the leaks stop !

Outboard MARINER 75 ELPTO wont start

Folks are more than happy to help on here, but you need to answer their questions and follow their instructions to the letter, otherwise we are guessing as you are. There are certain tests that will give these folks real answers if you would follow along. In my 60 plus years of boating, do you...

    Sticking weather seals

Clean the surface you don't want to stick and the gasket side you don't want sticking. Then lightly dust them with powder and rub off excess....they shouldn't stick after that.

    Portable Gas Tank Location

I don't argue with your thinking, however, take another look at today's boaters skills and experience, they need all the safety warnings they can get ! Around here in just the past few weeks.....4 fisherman were tossed into the lake when their boat filled with water and rolled over from...
