    Engine Swap

There will certainly be some type of stringers below the floor. There are stringers on either side of the engine that support the engine mounts. Depending on year and construction there may be wood stringers or they may be wood free. Floors may have a wood core. My 2003 sea ray has non wood...

1993 Mercruiser 350 Ski Magnum carbed oil type

Like you life long lake boater, some fishing, some water sports... always skied behind what ever we or our neighbors had (Typically underpowered IO bowriders). Probably 10 years ago bought my daughters a wakeboard, and they really took to it, especially our youngest. Of course this lead to...

    Engine Swap

Drill some holes to see the extent of it, might also be in the stingers as well. might be localized and somewhat easy to repair vs total gut. Would hope one doesnt off load a known structurally unsound boat as you surely can attest to what that is like on the receiving end

1993 Mercruiser 350 Ski Magnum carbed oil type

You don’t even know this guy and you are attacking him. Not every one who wakeboards or surfs is an ahole. He may be an ahole in training, you know working he may be working up to it…. just like not everyone on iboat is as much of an ahole as you are acting like. bottom line if you dont have...

Buying a boat with a broken Mecruiser sterndrive

In the 80 s merc did put 454 with alpha drives and had issue with longevity. This was before the bravo drive came out . Alphas are good for about 300 hp

Buying a boat with a broken Mecruiser sterndrive

while both the 454 and 4.3 are available with a bravo drive, it is more likely that the 4.3 uses an alpha drive which is not suitable for a 454. Also gear ratio would be different. If you need a replacement mercruiser drive and dont want to pay OEM prices look at SEI aftermarket drives

Posible oil and water mix in mercruizer sterndrive

could be that the seals in the outdrive are leaking and oil and water mixes. I think also the vent on cap can cause pressure build up and overflowing as well. Would crack your drain screw on outdrive and see if you have milk there

1993 Mercruiser 350 Ski Magnum carbed oil type

Ask two guys what oil to use you will get 3 answers. .... The quicksilver sythetic or not is fine. I run Mobil 1 15w-50. A lot of guys will Rotella T4 15w 40. Wix or baldwin filters get good recommendations. Napa used to be supplied by wix. Dont over think it. Use a weight such that you keep...

2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

this one had us all stumped... one thing maybe that wasn't looked at is if the igntion timing was late/retarded temps can get hot especially exhaust gas. Maybe something to verify total advance is ok.

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

you can leave the nipple in the hole wont bother anything if you are using a perma lube bearing. Pull the drive and see how it looks since moving it helps would think it is gimbal or ujoints

    Bent push rods….calling engine builders

100 % up and down slack is gone at zero lash. twisting for drag will lead to over tightened rockers.

    Starter Bolts 1985 Merc A1-G1 3.0 140hp

hot restarts where opening throttle is required usually means fuel is dribbling down during shutoff time causes a somewhat flooded condition. Opening the throttle more (more air) helps make a leaner mix the obvious concern would be hydrolock. By quite a bit more cranking torque I assume you...

    Starter Bolts 1985 Merc A1-G1 3.0 140hp

willing to bet something is lock up and that's why starter bolts snapped Unless the bolts were the wrong length willing to bet that the stubs since they were not bottomed out or galled will thread right out.

Mercruiser 3.0L LX - Black Smoke / Rough Idle

Good you checked fuel pressure and choke opening. is there fuel in the Tygon 1/4” tube from fuel pump up to carb? If so fuel pump diaphragm is ruptured. look down in bore at idle. Even at 1000 rpms no fuel should come off venturi boosters. Any visible fuel going down the bore is indicative of...

No Spark, feels like I’ve tried everything.

something I didnt think of before previous post - have the battery load tested at autoparts store just to rule it out as voltage drop source for testing jumper directly from the battery positive to the purple wire (might have to strip some insulation since there is no terminal on the coil)...
