    Fuel Line handling?

Wow, that kinked fill hose is terrible!

    Fuel Line handling?

My boat was originally constructed with the rubber fuel hose just foamed in place - horrible if you ever need to replace it in the future. On my resto I used grey PVC conduit with large sweeping bends to make a pipe through which I could route my fuel hose and ground wire.

How to keep drive to gimbal housing water hose from coming off?

I bought a Quicksilver transom kit last year and installed it. It came with a generic 5/8 heater hose like you mention and a molded 5/8 hose. I installed the molded hose. Maybe the generic hose is too short?

Drag racing. If I'm rubbing, I'm doing something wrong.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

Well, this past Sunday we took the Power Play out for one last rip, then Sunday afternoon I winterized and put it away for the long winter nap. I have to say, as first-timers we really enjoyed the boat this season and consider it a success. It was not without issues - from running the boat up...

    Polishing and Waxing Process

Post a closer pic of the oxidation. You may have to do some wet sanding first if the oxidation is bad enough.

    Polishing or paint

You're going to have to wet sand before polish or the chalk just comes back. Wet sand, polish, wax.

    1972 Checkmate MX-15 Rebuild

I'm in TN, and it sounds like yall are much tougher boaters than we are, haha. For me, winter is the time to get out the small plastic boats and paddle the steep whitewater creeks that only flow that time of year.

    1972 Checkmate MX-15 Rebuild

I think the countersunk screws in the channel is a good solution - at least you won't have to go on/off/on/off/on with the cap! Being my first boating season, I also can't believe it's almost over! I'm hoping to get the boat out this weekend, and maaaaybe get it out once more in November, but...

    Rubberizing boat floor (Fiberglass)

Couldn't agree more. I think a lot of folks who have not worked on boats before (including me before my project) are afraid of gelcoat - it sound exotic and conjures up images of being difficult to apply. However after using it in a roll-on method, I found that it's almost no different than...

1985 sea ray 250 cc fisherman

Agree, it's likely a full gut amd restore, and that finding a shop that will take this on is going to be tough. If you do the work yourself I would budget 18-24 months and $5k - $7k, assuming you have a place you can work on the boat that is dry and that you can get above 60F in the cold months...

    Wooden stringers

Yes, you can do it however you want. I didn't cap my stringers in glass until after they were tabbed in. For my boat the OEM had left the stringers completely uncapped when they built it and it lasted a while, but eventually rotted.

Where to pass the fuel filling hose and vent fuel hose?

It's a similar idea of a "flop tube" in an aerobatic airplane fuel tank (google it). The tube essentially extends the end of the fuel pickup tube inside the tank to allow it to draw the fuel from the deepest part of the tank and/or where the fuel is at. If you just flipped the tank around and...

    Potential project boat

Lots of great info in this thread already. @tpenfield is correct - if the paperwork isn't in order for the boat and trailer, RUN away. You want clean titles and a clear path to ownership. If you make the purchase, the first thing you need to do before buying any supplies or pulling the first...

    1990 Bayliner 2651 resto

Yeah, for initial cleaning I'd just use a kitchen surface cleaner and some rags or paper towels. Maybe some dish soap and water on the greasy spots.

    New member, old boat question.

Agree. End-grain balsa coring is what he likely was seeing.
