    Merc 75 4 cylinders, 2 carbs

It's worth it if you can find an actual Mercury manual. I got mine on ebay for something like fifty bucks. It's used, but everything's there and it comes in quite handy. I can't comment on your particular engine, by my 50HP Merc also has dual carbs and the starting point is 1 1/4 turns out...

    Merc 75 4 cylinders, 2 carbs

Yes, do be careful removing the plastic linkage. New ones are available, but they're $50! o_O

    Nobody fishing?

We went back out again last evening. My wife lost 2 big bass before finally hooking up with and landing a nice (almost) 5 pounder. And the boy finally caught his first "real" bass, about a 2 1/2 pounder. He also caught a smaller bass shortly thereafter. But! During his battle with...

Is a Tiny Tach a good choice for testing?

Perhaps simple for someone whose hands don't shake. But for some of us folks, it's nice to have the little tach just sitting in a stable location while making adjustments. This is my old tach when checking idle speed a few years ago. One hand to steady myself or the screwdriver, my other...

Hey, thanks for the backup. Much appreciated. (y)🙂 I just put internet trolls on my ignore list, especially the newbies.

Is a Tiny Tach a good choice for testing?

I've used the Tiny Tach with great success. Haven't tried the hand held photo types, but I'd think they'd be fine too, if you don't mind stopping whatever you're doing in order to take a measurement. One big advantage of the Tiny Tach is that once you set it up, you don't have to mess with it...

    Bluegill

I just watched this a few minutes ago. It'd be great to catch whoppers like these! 😃

    Nobody fishing?

Well, we've been fishing at our secret honey-hole pond almost every week since my prior posts. And we've met with success... and break offs. Frustrating! 😠 I hooked into another large bass a few weeks ago while using a Smithwick Devil's Horse. The fish hit the lure about 20' from me and I...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

Took this pic a few days ago in our front yard, using my phone, and through a window. :sneaky: The big girl was like: This is my stump! My stump!

    Bluegill

Bluegill really are darn fine eating! They're actually my wife's primary target when we fish. I posted this video 7 years ago and she still goes after the 'gills even just 2 days ago. The 11 bluegill in that little cooler weighed 8 pounds in total. Not bad and mighty tasty!

    Bluegill

Very nice! Bluegill are sweet and tasty; my wife's favorite to catch. She caught a few this evening.

Replacing old 2 stroke with newer 4 stroke advice?

I'll clarify something I said earlier in Post #13. If I could afford a brand new boat, which was designed to handle the weight of a brand new 4-stroke outboard. I'd do that in a heartbeat. But, I can't. So, I'm stuck with rebuilding/restoring old boats with "ancient engines." To the best...
