    LiFePO Batteries ???

Despite the pouring rain, I was able to get the 7 (seven) batteries out of the boat. . . . . I believe one of the house batteries was internally shorted out, so I couldn't run the maintenance charge over the winter, as both the charger and inverter would peg at their maximum amps (80 amps...

    2000 Stingray 190 RX Restoration

If you are not up to rebuilding/replacing the engine, then you may be best to sell it as a fixer. I recently re-upholstered a Stingray of similar vintage and was surprised to note that the boat was using Perma Panel (KDAT) plywood, which is rot resistant. Not sure if a 2000 model would have...

Boat damaged during stay at repair shop

These things happen . . . Review any contractual terms stated on the repair paperwork. Notify your insurance company of the damage while the boat was in for repair. Find out the repair shop's insurance company, if you can. Let the insurance company fight it out with the repair shop. The...

    Water leaking from engine - 5.7 GXI-E

Before you have the engine pulled . . . do verify where the leak is coming from. Items mentioned in this thread are . . . Core plug Exhaust manifold crack Engine block crack There are some engine block drains, on either side of the block, but the leak looks to be too far back for that...

    Water leaking from engine - 5.7 GXI-E

This might be the first cracked engine block of the 2024 season. BTW - the starboard engine mount stringer is also cracked. You should have a look to see if is is wet/saturated.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I just ordered about $1K worth of batteries, controllers, converter and related 'stuff' to start my battery / power system upgrade. The game plan will be to remove the existing batteries this weekend. I'm going to see how much of the 2/0 AWG cable can be re-purposed for the new system.

    DIY - Canvas Enclosure

After approximately 8 days of measuring, cutting, sewing I have the 8 panels of the camper enclosure to my boat ready and folded in a pile for transport to the boat on Cape Cod. I'll be doing the test fitting and marking things so that I can finish it off over the next few weeks. The...

    DIY - Canvas Enclosure

I've been working on the aft canvas . . . it goes across the stern and is approximately 9' high (long) x 11 ' wide, as it slopes from the back of the soft top frame down/over the rear seat. I've had to move my tables and sewing machine all around to accommodate the various sewing and cutting...

    DIY - Canvas Enclosure

Quick Update . . . I am starting to pick up the pace. This (below) is part of the windshield canvas where the walk-thru is located on the port side. It is actually 2 smaller pieces tacked together at the top. I did find a spare zipper to sew in where the pieces join. I got about 3 hrs into...

    DIY - Canvas Enclosure

Here are the forward side panels. As mentioned these are larger than the aft panels, having more glass. . . This took me about 8.5 hours for both (4.25 hrs each) to get them to this point. I had the glass pieces cut & sewn the other day. I'm still waiting on the zippers to arrive and then...
