    Boat plumbing

Unless you have brass thru hulls or have changed them out in the last 8-10 years, my money is a thru hull that has cracked inside the throat Changed out the plastic for brass fittings when my boat was 6 years old. Half of them failed by close visual inspection. The other half I was able to...

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Spent half my career as a Mechanical design Engineer. The support cycle of most parts is between 7-10 years. Once you get beyond that it becomes legacy support. Production and stock levels are demand driven. Looking at the PH454 specifically, the bulk of its usage was 2000-2007. That’s 17...

Adding an axillary fuel tank information resources?

I have a 94 gallon main and a 54 gallon aux tank on a 22’ Walkaround Both tanks are mounted on centerline. One under the cockpit floor and other under the helm floor. Both are accessible with removable floor panels. Uses a two way selector valve to switch from one tank to another The hard...

N W S and NOAA post Hazardous Weather Conditions. When my area is having normal weather. Why ?

Depends on what you call fearful conditions. Half the people think everything is out to get them. The other half doesn’t know they are in danger Like on a barrier island…..lol Been going on for years. Wasn’t until recently the national media took notice and sensationalized it.

    Fuel filter question

Not a fan of aftermarket filters unless they provide detailed specifications noting pressure drop, and efficiency at a minimum. I can have a (documented) Racor filter for my system (S3214) delivered to my front door within 24 hours for $15 You can buy just the element. Realize, with the...

Sustainable Electrical Setups for Older Motors

Like water, there are two components to electricity, Voltage and Current Voltage is the equal to pressure Current is equal to flow If you want to power your "accessories, you need to calculate current demand over time (flow) to power them. Voltage is important, but not for this exercise

    Axle Tube Drain Holes?

One has to ask themselves…….how did the axle make it 40+ years if it needed additional (drain) holes to keep from rusting out? Don't fix someone that isn't broken….lol

Only select Items 12v and 110 will work on my boat...Very puzzled

OK, we have power ........ kind of.. Have you checked the primary battery voltage? I see you have a 12V Fridge. It wouldn't take long to kill a battery Very well could be, but it depends on how the system is wired. Every circuit (fuse outlet) has to be grounded. Ideally each is run back to...

Only select Items 12v and 110 will work on my boat...Very puzzled

Sounds like your back feeding the circuits through ground. Hopefully you didn't blow anything by applying power to ground Lets get some terminology straight... don't see a "bus bar" per say on the schematic. I see a power distribution panel feed by a 60 A red wire. Within that panel should...

Only select Items 12v and 110 will work on my boat...Very puzzled

Started reading thru this thread this morning. Very confusing.... your jumping all over the place. You need to start at the supply (batteries) and work your way back The odds of your problem being the "bur bar" is next to nil. Wouldn't spend another 10 seconds working from that perspective...
