    After starting , if motor falters you push in key momentarily to choke it.-----Do that till motor warms a bit.-----Older motors are simple.----But you must learn the starting method.

    I see so many folks who have little to no understanding how 2 strokes work.----They do start modern cars with the push of a button.-----It is your best interest to learn how to start an older 2 stroke.----Will save lots of time , money and aggravation.

    Motor must come apart for inspection / possible repairs.

    I believe this motor needs to come apart.

    There may also be damage to gear teeth.----Can't be seen.-----But often results in stripped teeth at a later date.

    I have more than 1 of these motors.----If a motor is STUCK , it comes apart for inspection.-----I have a multitude of parts to replace rusted bearings and such.----New and used crankshafts on the shelf.

    Perhaps the motor was submerged and not recovered / treated promptly.----The bearings / crankshaft could then be rusted badly.-----Woul;d need a complete teardown if that is the cae.-----Not worth taking this 77 / 78 / 79 model to a shop for that level of work.----Your location ?

    Answer questions after CAREFUL reading.----Does the flywheel turn a wee little bit ?----Or is it absolutely stuck with no movement whatsoever.

    Then with new reds it should start even quicker.

    Install a used ---Johnson / Evinrude electric primer valve.----Then hard starting will go into the history book.
