    1984 starcraft islander

Looks like it got moved 😁 Lots of guys here are familiar with your boat, and all starcraft aluminum boats have a lot in common. Your boat could be a big project but whether its a complete tear down and build up, or just a small refit, we are here to help.

Welcome @Neschenbrenner Nice looking boat. Decent shape could mean a lot of things. Share some plans you have for her and more pictures. Also consider having your thread moved to the starcraft boat section.

    60hp vs 75hp for 160ss

@SHSU So far Ive only puttered around once where she almost failed to get me back to the dock. Usually its a failure to leave the dock lol. I just add up the money it takes for me to drive out and back, not have fun because its not working today. Doesnt take many of those trips to start...

    60hp vs 75hp for 160ss

@SHSU I wish I had the time to fix the old ones up. The old 2-strokes are nostalgic. I cant justify the time fixing them when my work and family is keeping me so busy. Same reasons make me justify the new one. Part of me wants to keep the stinger to work on it, but that will depend on what I...

    60hp vs 75hp for 160ss

The newer (2015+) merc 75hp is an inline 4 cylinder, and shares the same guts as the 90hp and 115hp. They just tune it down to make 75hp - same everything except lower rpms, programmed ECM, and an air restrictor from what ive read. Even read of people flashing the ECM to make it a 90 or 115...

    60hp vs 75hp for 160ss

Should add another poll option: Fly @racerone out to my place on an all expenses paid motor rebuilding / education vacation. Would cost as much as a new motor probably but then Id have 2 new (old) motors... Appreciate you @racerone and your wealth of motor knowledge. Unfortunately my...

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

She was a beautiful boat and will be remembered. Your kids faces say it all too. Sad to see that the damage is beyond repair. That twist is bad and I can only imagine how bad the bottom looks from being pinned to the trailer. Looks like the motor was saved by the cross beam along the...

    60hp vs 75hp for 160ss

Thanks @DLNorth thats my thinking as well. Currently have a 75hp omc (powerhead rated). It has always been a bit slow to get out of the hole when we are loaded up. Top speed was decent. Pulling a tube was hard on her with a bunch of people. Id like to be able to pull an adult skier up with...

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

That is heart breaking. Let your mind clear before digging in. If the hull isnt punctured or folded she may be salvageable, but that looks like a hard hit. Sorry to see that happen. Cant imagine how you’re feeling. Will pray for the best.

I remember being in your shoes, feeling a bit burnt out. But seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, thats when you double down and just hammer it out!! 6 months is pretty quick and shes looking good. The home stretch will be here before you know it.

    '67 Holiday 18' - Make it Usable

You can fill it but it can be hard on the hull when sitting on the trailer. A lot of weight with minimal distribution compared to it sitting on a lake as intended. Another option is just put a little water in it and move it around, side to side, front to back. Less stress then, same goal...

Since it sounds like you are rebuilding the metal consoles, you could tilt the steering mount and gauges panel up even move than 45*. The steering wheel does sit quite low and seeing as Im average height, its very low for a tall person! Raising up the windshield would be a huge undertaking...

    68 Offshore restoration

Id love to see it work using stainless blinds. Thats some deep thinking and diving into uncharted territory, hence the skepticism here. You’ve definitey given it some good thought. I briefly glanced back through your thread, thought someone mentioned using dissimilar metals. I know we all...
