    68 Offshore restoration

I will say a new rivet, even closed blind, will probably be stronger than a lot of the 50 year old solid rivets. Before I tore my boat down, it spent a summer on the water with around 30 open blind rivets. I lost a rivet completely one day and that hole almost sank the boat in 3 hours, had...

    68 Offshore restoration

Good Morning Sharpie! Glad to have you here sharing your build with us. My first thought is replacing solid rivets with closed end blind rivets. They may be waterproof for a while, but they arent as strong as a solid rivet. Eventually I would think they will leak, especially in any position...

    1978 SS 16 restoration

Great progress! Transom is a major milestone. Passenger side fuel tank will be interesting, would like to see some pics of that set up in place. Should balance decent especially with it balancing your own weight out. My boat likes to lean towards me when Im solo and Im not that big of a guy!

    '67 Holiday 18' - Make it Usable

I think a 4hp kicker would probably be minimal and would be over-worked in the long run, especially in currents. Interesting half-open bow idea! Curious to see how it turns out. Definitely makes the space more useable and the anchor accessible.

    1978 SS 16 restoration

A fill in the center of the splash well would look nice. Part of the reason I went with a permanent tank was not wanting to crawl into my boat to fill her up. Believe the one I remember seeing on a build was on the port side but the gentlemen did not have a big fuel tank so he could fit it on...

    1978 SS 16 restoration

@Siva283 The fuel tank I put under the casting deck was a challenge to build. It does sit slightly more forward than I would prefer for weight balancing - doesnt sit dead center. Also seems to starve my 75hp motor for fuel so Im going to have to put in a fuel pump I think. I would not put one...

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

Congratulations on the splash and successful duck hunts!!! As for those holders, maybe a double sided 3m adhesive tape would work. Cant say how long that would last though.

    Adding an outboard bracket/offshore bracket

I am in no way qualified to give advice on an outboard bracket, but it has crossed my mind for my boat as well! I like the idea quite a bit for better handling, a step/platform, and more space in the interior. Go for it so I can see how you do it!! If it were me, not sure if I would weld or...
