    Cabinet hanging question.

Cabinets are all in now. I had to get some 4 inch structural screws because the tall one had a big gap at the back, and I used them in the tops of the deep cabinets above the washer and dryer too. Good thing, because I had actually missed the rafters with the 3 inch ones. I also screwed the...

What is PL? It certainly doesn't look like something I would want to glass over.

Sure, that'll work. Just make sure to get plenty of resin on the edges. They will soak up more than the flats.

Hey, I've been doing this for 12 years, and I have the same feeling sometimes. There are lots of different methods and materials, and there isn't just one that works. What we do at work, and our work is backed up by a warranty, is the cut the angle in and bed the stringers in resin putty, then...

Ok, I think I get it. It seems that you don't want to set the wood in place dry, then just glass it straight in. It should be bedded in with a filler material, which would be the resin putty. I don't really see how it would make a difference though, as the putty or resin and glass dries hard...

We had to get 3/4 of what I think is coosa ( like a black foam board with strands of fiberglass mixed in). It was about $400 per 4x8ft sheet.

If yours is like the ine in the thread linked by tpenfield, it looks pretty normal to me. Post a pic of yours before you start cutting stuff out.

Maybe he means that it shouldn't just be place on the hull with no putty?

That paint job is horrible, definitely looks like someone was trying to cover up damage on the hull. In the first few seconds of your video, right behind the strap looks like a big patch to me. All of those edges you see are where paint has chipped off or filler wasn't smoothed out. Looks like...

    Cabinet hanging question.

There's a header. That is a pre hung door, which I framed with 2x4s. The header is 2x2, it's just barely visible in that pic, looks more like a shadow. You have no idea. Half framed window, aluminum flashing over holes everywhere, speaker wire wired into an outlet and hanging cut under the...

    Cabinet hanging question.

Are you talking about the pic in post 16? The cabinet was only resting on the stand in that one. I had to take the drywall and top door hinge out because I measured where it was going, but not the path it would take to get there. It was too wide, and even after taking the drywall down, I still...

Cut the angle into the board, it's easy. Leave the stringers a bit tall, it's easier to trim down than to need to add.

    Cabinet hanging question.

I marked the studs on the floor, but I should have done that before I covered all the drywall screws. It would've been easier. My place isn't built like that. It's a very old trailer home with 2x2 studs, a single stud header, and rafters sitting on top of the studs. It even still has the rafter...

Why use both at all? Just use the poly. If yours has wax, it will cure hard on it's own.

The stitched 1708 glass will be much stiffer, and need some time to soak up the resin, meaning you will need to add a generous amount of thickened resin at the base of the stringers to fill in the corners or else it will probably lift. I haven't used epoxy resin, but it needs to be more precise...
