    RPM range question

Now I see why none of this made any sense. This is much smaller boat (OAL rated) with a very different hull design than most the 24’ Walkarounds marketed in the US by its competitors. The boat is light weight with a suprising shallow deadrise and limited fuel capabilites for a boat marketed...

    Speedo Tube

I’m plotting a course from Annapolis to Solomons, a distance of 30 miles. I burn 0.5 gallon per mile at cruise (30 mph) as calculated by Flo-Scan system. How long will it take me and how much fuel will I burn in the process of getting there running 30 mph pitot speed? How long and how much...

    Just curious

Locally, participation is down if anything. Sport fishing with their 6am departure and cruising are the primary drivers of boating in the area. Big water combined with saltwater critters keeps the “sofa” boat and water sport crowd away for the most part. With all the restrictions put on...

Already getting the run around….. there is no such thing as exceeding “agreed value” with an agreed value policy. It pays the value noted on the policy, no exceptions… Your problem, the marina carries liability only insurance…. Run around is coming Probably not as great as you give them credit...

    Need Air Compressor Help

They normally start throwing oil long before you have pressure issues. Be sure to check the power from source to motor. Could be a compromised wire or connector in the power circuit. A 2hp motor needs a dedicated 20 amp circuit My compressor at the barn was doing the exact same thing. Checked...

    Need Air Compressor Help

Check the supply voltage while it’s running. Pretty typical behavior when the voltage is sagging. Works ok until you build up resistance (pressure) and the thermal overload kicks out

    To tip a housecleaning service?

I don’t not tip for people doing their job. If the price is negotiated, I assume the price is all inclusive have included their “tip” in the price. If you go above and beyond the scope of the contract for me personally, that’s different. The only people I’m religious about tipping are waiters...

well....dreaded boat damage victim...need expertise answers

Must have a "liability only" policy. A "comprehensive" policy, would cover any and all damages in the contract Your best bet is to make a claim through your insurance Company. Let them fight the battle with the marina

Chainsaw cutting lube in a pinch

Never heard of greasing a bar or drive sprocket until now. Must be a husqvarna thing. Bought my Stihl 028 in Spring of 1990. With two wood burning fireplaces, 30 acres of storm damage and over a 1 mile of four board horse fence to maintain, that saw has been though the ringer and back over the...

    Need Help

So did mine until a closer inspection with a hose and water Overtime and lots of pounding, the screws holding the liner to the hull came loose. Water was getting behind the rub rail and thru the openings in the joint. Removed the rub rail and removed the screws one section at a time. Filled...

Chainsaw cutting lube in a pinch

Hard to believing someone that owns a chain saw doesn’t keep bar oil around. A kin to owning a emergency generator but don’t own a gas can to fill it…lol

    RPM range question

What boat are you running? Without knowing the exact boat, I’m guessing you’re about 100 hp short, if not more, for a 25’ walkaround. My 22’ is rated for 280hp, hung with a 225hp. My one buddies 24’ is rated at 350 hp, hung with 275 HP. Another friend has twin 175HP on his 25’WA I’m running a...

Methanol? Are you sure it’s not ethanol? EO or E10 will gum up over time if left untreated. I throw a bottle a Stabil in the tank before the last outing of the season. Starts right up in the Spring

    Floor scupper replacement ball

I’ve never seen balls in a scupper drain. Trying to get my head around how that would work. I can see a ball stopping water from entering, but how does the water get out? https://www.westmarine.com/perko-check-ball-only-for-cockpit-scupper-0142-14121925.html

Chainsaw cutting lube in a pinch

Most bar oils are ~ 30 weight, they also contain a tackifier for better adhesion to the bar. Helps to keep the oil from being thrown off the bar during operation. If you use motor oil with an automatic chain oiling system, be prepared to supplement to keep adequate oil on the bar.

    Smart tabs.

“Ship happens” is the reason for the 30/30/30 rule. My speed and fuel economy drops with every gallon I put in the tank. Makes carrying an excessive fuel load a liability. I typically run 50-60 miles a day. Following the 30/30/30 rule, I carry ~ 40 gallons (98 gallon tank) to get me through...

    Tilt/trim pump

An electrical circuit shutting down when warm is a thermal issue, especially if a motor is involved. First thing I’d check is to see if the pump is getting warm/hot, tripping the overload or a relay is getting hot and opening up on you. You can pretty quickly eliminate a ground ground...
