    2008 F250TXR code 72?

If it was truly low oil pressure I might think it would affect the other cam shaft drive mechanisms.

    Interchangeable lower units??

It could be but I doubt it. Many 3.3 liter F250's (and F200's and F225's) with just one pair of water inlets function just fine. At least one owner of the lower unit having two pairs of water inlets changed to configuration having just one pair of inlets. Reason being his lower unit kept...

    What fuel to run?

Interesting. I ran a Yamaha F70 first with gasoline rated at 87 octane and then again with 93 octane. Highest I could find. There was no difference in top speed. Fuel burn rate was the same. Seems as if the slower burning 93 octane would have produced less power.

    What fuel to run?

No mention by Mercury Marine as to performance degradation when using gasoline with an octane rating above 87. Which is the minimum. As in, higher is OK. Less is not.

    Why is that?

    What fuel to run?

I have never heard of gasoline with an 87 octane rating as being premium. I don't believe that Mercury says no ethanol. You can't go wrong by following the manual. The pumps usually state "may contain up to 10% ethanol". Based on the luck of the draw you might get 87 octane with 0% ethanol."

    Gauges I might need

A 2020 Yamaha F115 will support either analog instruments or digital instruments. Yamaha offers needle and dial analog instruments, analog instruments with digital displays and digital instruments with digital displays. And the motor can be connected to an NMEA 2000 MFD if you want to see...

    Yamaha 703 control adjustment advice

The control handle should shift the motor into gear without the throttle cable moving at all. What normally happens is the idle RPM will go down a bit due to the propeller putting a load on the motor.

Was the service manual procedure used when installing the throttle cable and the shift cable?

    Yamaha 703 control adjustment advice

The same part number cable is used for the throttle that is used for shifting. The first so many degrees of throttle/shift handle movement is for the shift function only. Then the throttle portion takes over. It is normal for the gears to clunk when shifting into gear. Moreso perhaps when...

    Yamaha 703 control adjustment advice

What is a Yamaha 25 HT model? Something is missing. Is it a T25XXX? What is lift part about? When you mention it takes a while for the fwd control to engage are you talking about the motion of the throttle/shift handle? The shift should only happen at idle RPM. Is the motor idling normally?

How long is the skeg on a mariner 30/40

Is that a Mercury Mariner or a Yamaha Mariner? I don't think the length of the skeg is critical however.

    Outboard engine I.D. tag decoded.

6E0 S 070961Looks to be a 1986 model year motor. Would be similar if not identical to a Yamaha 4SJ model. Yamaha branded parts might be available Mariner branded parts are not.

Shift rod position after impeller change

True but there is the cost to get the motor to the mechanic. Not the mechanics responsibility.
