    5.7 coil issues

Are you getting the correct coil -internal vs external resistor ? Had a similar issue on a can years back - would intermittently loose spark, and was destroying ignition components like cap rotor looked like arc welding was going on inside. Replaced the coil, couple month later coil was bad...

    Mercruiser exhaust question

Would check the flame arrestor is on tight and the exhaust bellows are not torn or off. If i recall on the mpi there are three studs or shoulder bolts that hold on the flame arrestor and cover that are kind of a pain to get off ?

2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

Would definitely rule out the timing but usually if it is late the engine will run hot

    3.0l not accelerating/boggy

You are correct it has timing gears. You can rotate crank back and forth and see if there is excessive backlash before cam start moving. Also you may want to make sure the balancer is tight and not making a noise.

Very difficult to shift into Neutral

you need to adjust it while running so figure out a way to get in there with a flex driver or smaller fingers... equally important while you adjust it is if you go way lean or way rich the engine should start stumbling at either extreme, if it doesnt carb is clogged and need rebuild

    Shift cable

if you are having trouble getting reverse did you adjust the slotted lever I think around 2:50 in this video? \ if you have a factory manual it will be outlined in there.

2006 Monterey Boat with a 4.3L Mercruiser TKS Engine S/N 0w354897 Mysterious Loss of Power

Agreed to the OP if you can rig up fuel pressure gauge, take a timing light and spark gap tester. Go out stay close to the launch and when it happens make sure to see if fuel pressure is ok, check timing under load with timing light see if it is bouncing around. Check spark strength with gap...

    2000 Glastron 175 engine swap

I think you will find the victor jr intake rpm range not matched to marine rpm range which is idle to 5 k. What cam is in it?

    1994 Mercrusier 4.3l engine compatability

Outdrive will self drain water. Change the gear oil in it. If you find evidence of water in gear oil pressure test the od to find seal leaks

1993 Stingray 556 Leak in Bilge

Agreed bar garboard drain is probably loose. Mine was moving in the hull, bent the screws, new screws took it out bedded it in 5200 legit dry over night been good for years

Would a bad coupler make a noise like this?

could be a few things gimbal, ujoints, flywheel cover loose, fuel pump previously mentioned. I had Ujoints on my alpha gen 2 that felt smooth, replaced them as I was into the drive for a bearing and decided to do all the seals... two crosses on each ujoint had ripples worn in to them yet were...

Wooden Mounting Base with Casters for Mercruiser 4.3L 1992 Engine

On mercurys website there are engine package dimensional drawings. I used a pallet with 4 harbor freight casters on it. On the flywheel cover are two feet that the back will sit on you just need some 2 x6 on their side to build up for the side mounts. see attched- its a 5.0 so the front mounts...

2006 Monterey Boat with a 4.3L Mercruiser TKS Engine S/N 0w354897 Mysterious Loss of Power

Agreed - if the oring on the cap was sealing it what are the changes there is water in there ?

Sea Ray with MerCruiser MCM 4.3LX coupler temperature

Were you able to check alignment after the coupler blew? 99 % of the time if the alignment is good and there is no engine sagging due to transom or stringer rot, the coupler will last the life of the boat if greased. I assume it is a somewhat older boat being a 4.3 LX ? might be worth...

Where is the idle mix adjustment on this carb on a 5.7 350 with Thunderbolt IV?

Common man that can go another couple years... Neighbors boat (VP 4.3 MPI) was lacking in holeshot, she asked me to take a look at it. Had just had the marina that did winterization do a tune up... cap, rotor plugs and wires ... The flame arrestor made this one look clean - completely covered...

    1994 Mercrusier 4.3l engine compatability

if the 4.3 is out of a truck leave the cam alone. What is your current carb? 2 bbl or 4 bbl? Likely jetting would need to be changed for the vortec heads. If yo have a 2 bbl not a bad time to upgrade to 4 bbl. Your current exhaust manifolds will work but I would be surprised if they aren't...

    1994 Mercrusier 4.3l engine compatability

The 96 and up use vortec heads with an 8 bolt intake. This will provide more power vs the earlier 12 bolt intake heads. Also later blocks will require use of an electric fuel pump. thee are no such thing as marine heads. They are the same as truck heads. Only diff between truck and marine is...

Sea Ray with MerCruiser MCM 4.3LX coupler temperature

Never checked coupler temp but being on back of engine next to the exhaust I’d say 140 f / 60 c is fine if you have relatively even witness marks in the grease don’t worry about it. When I did my repower I could not get the grease marks perfect, spent a bunch of time back and forth …. drive...
