    100+ outboards

Surely anyone wanting an old motor for the love of them or budget constraints would be doing their own servicing , the simplicity of them has been mentioned a few times :)

Questions about purchasing a 1982 75 HP 3 cylinder Johnson

Its the crankshaft assy that gives me the geebies . If its got rusty its custard but its hard to tell sometimes . I look as far thru the intake tract as I can to see if its dry , like corrosion on throttle butterflies or reeds if you can see them sort of thing , or it might be all crudded...

Questions about purchasing a 1982 75 HP 3 cylinder Johnson

I think with smaller , like aux sized motors there's half a chance that its done bugger all work .... I have a 6hp Zuki , had it 3 years and it hasnt got 2 hrs on it , so your looking at the ravishes of age and poor storage rather than broken knackeredness .:)

1982 Johnson outboard 60 hp 2 cly had a cracked carburetor float

As long as your getting full open throttle at the carbs / ignition timing with the throttle / shift lever in the full throttle position Id be inclined to leave it be , I cant see how a new cable will help unless you can see a fault in the old one .

At the risk of sounding like a broken record Mercury dont make ecu's any more than they make spark plugs or bearings . A LOT of the spares branded as oem parts are out sourced from all over the place One could argue the seeing as how the motor itself is out sourced even genuine mercruiser...
